Request for Accuphase device icons, more specific the DC-37

Hello,

I have Accuphase gear and surprisingly no Accuphase icons are present in the Roon device library for configuring my endpoint setup completely.

Could you please add some Accuphase stuff, you could start with the DC-37 digital to analog converter that I own  ? The request is for the ā€œDevice Setupā€ menu where I would like to pick something nicer for ā€œIdentify this deviceā€.

See below how it looks:
Accuphase DC-37

Would be great to have this, visuals are also important  …

Thanks in advance!

PS: The DC-37 is connected over USB to an Auralic Aries G2 streamer which is inside the Roon icon library.

Kind regards,
Ignace.

Accuphase doesn’t appear to have made the decision to have Roon Labs certify their equipment, so this probably isn’t going to happen. For more information this topic, browse/search Audio Gear Talk.

Hello @DDPS,

Accuphase doesn’t make any network connected (Ethernet or WiFi) audio devices, so it’s quite impossible for them to have something Roon ā€˜certified’. The closest they get is a USB connected DAC.

Similar to for example the Marantz SA-10, which is a pure SACD player that has also the possibility to be used as a DAC via USB, just as the Accuphase DC-37 or DP-750 SACD player. But the SA-10 icon is in the library, the Accuphase not, just because Marantz has other network devices certified by Roon, most probably?

We as customer, should not pay the ā€˜penalty’ for this, I’m even a lifetime Roon subscriber.

The fact that I’m seeing ā€œUnidentified deviceā€ in the Device Setup menu disturbs me, it’s kind of incomplete. All I can do is friendly ask Roon for some more icons, or a way to add them myself, that would also be great?

Kind regards,
Ignace.

They can’t be Roon Ready, however, USB connected DAC’s can been certified as Roon Test.

As this isn’t really for support, I’ve moved over to Feature Suggestions where Roon products team will see it.

@Carl,

Thanks for moving the case to feature suggestions!

In awaiting for having maybe a new feature, what can be done to get this DAC Roon Tested? I should get in contact with Accuphase Japan? Probably not the easiest path…

Or can Roon initiate something?

In the meantime, I’ve read some other posts on this forum, is it correct that choosing the USB device is not purely about the icon, but also some settings that are done automatically, the ones I have probably to do currently myself?

Thanks!

Not sure what you are saying. I have a McIntosh MA8900 with a DA2 DAC module. It is not Ethernet-connected; is connected by USB to a PC running Roon Bridge. But Roon sees it, and refers to its proper icon, etc., because it’s officially ā€œRoon Tested.ā€

I was made aware by Carl that there is also something like Roon Tested, something I didn’t know about. This is for endpoints that don’t talk RAAT protocol, like USB devices. So, I don’t get the proper icon because my Accuphase is not Roon Tested, yes I know now.

But still, this leaves me with a not so nice configuration in Roon. I’m still bothered by the ā€œUnidentified deviceā€, which I cannot solve, since there is no device that matches with what I’m having as a DAC.

This also makes it not appearing in the play section too; all I’m seeing is the Auralic bridge.

It would be nice if the Roon software, by means of a new feature, could allow to manually complete the unidentified device, as well as maybe me providing a drawing for the device?

Thanks.

It’s really just cosmetic, and not something you see/use on a regular basis. You only see those details and icons in the audio zone setup process. What you see in day-to-day Roon use is only your Zone icon, which you can customize on any endpoint by selecting the volume (speaker) icon in the lower right, then select the gear icon.
