· Hello Roon Support,

my old Roon Server/Core is defective and I can no longer access it to deactivate it.

Could you please remove or deactivate the old core/server from my account manually so I can activate a new one?

Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Thomas Graf

You should be able to do this yourself as part of the process of seting up a new Roon Server.

Once the new server is set up an ready to connect to, try connecting to Roon with your remote.

If it is still trying to connect to your old defunc Roon Server it will fail and present you with a page to ‘Search for a different Roon Server’. Select this and you should be presented with a list of Roon Servers seen on your network. Your new Roon Server should be in this list.

Connect to the new Roon Server and proceed to login or restore a backup (which will perform a login for you). You may then be presented with a page saying your subscription is being used by another Roon Server (your old, defunct one). However, that page should also present an ‘Unauthorize’ button. Click on this and then the login should proceed.

Hello @tg22,

Thank you for reaching out!

As @Wade_Oram mentioned, you do not need to contact support to deactivate your old Core. Roon is designed to handle this automatically during the setup process.

When you install your new Roon Server and attempt to log in, you will be notified that your subscription is already active on another Core. At that point, you will see an “Unauthorize” button on the screen. Clicking this button will automatically deactivate the old, inaccessible Core and transfer your license to the new one.

You can then proceed to restore your most recent database backup to the new Core, and you will be back up and running with all your settings and library intact.

Please let us know if you encounter any trouble with the unauthorization process!

My old Roon Server is completely broke and is not responding to the unlink bottom. The old Roon Server has no internet connection any more !?

What can I do ?

Once the new server is up and running, simply unauthorise the old server. It doesn’t have to be switch on or online.

Hi @tg22,

When you install RoonServer on the new machine and open Roon, you’ll be prompted to select whether you wish to set up a new server. If there is an existing server authorized to your account, you’ll have the option to deauthorize it there.

If you’re not seeing these options presented in Roon, can you please share a screenshot here showing what you see instead?
