I have updated my Roon titan, Roon remote app and arc app to the latest early access builds. Via Roon arc I now get an error message. Arc seems to be connected, but it doesn’t work. Before the update, it worked flawlessly.
I have restarted my router and titan twice. On the roon arc page in the roon remote app there is stated that it is ok. Over WiFi en cellular I have the same problem.
My roon remote app became very slow too when I try to connect Roon arc.
Same here, it shows connection OK in settings but can’t load latest Plays/Adds on Home, nor any tracks in albums (the albums are shown but no tracks in them), and after a while shows “Something went wrong”.
Thanks for the report, and sorry for the inconvenience. When you have a chance, could you please try rebooting the Roon Server and let us know if that changes the behavior? We’re interested in whether the issue is resolved by the restart, or if it reappears afterward. Thanks!
In Home I got the top row with the counts immediately but else just a jellyfish.
After a few minutes an album that l looked at two days ago suddenly popped up and loaded fairly slowly.
Then I went back to Home and it loaded normally.
Still a jellyfish on Genres.
Switching to albums, only gray boxes again
The macOS remote:
Shows My Artists OK in fairly normal speed
Home: Just the top row with counts immediately, then a jellyfish and after a few minutes it loaded
Albums, Composers: Gray boxes
Edit: @oleh When I returned to the screen after several minutes, I found that the Composers (where I had left it) had loaded in the meantime. Trying to go from there to the album in the Now Playing bar just gives me a jellyfish again and then finally loads a minute or two later
@oleh: Interesting, trying to go to the ROCK data folder by SMB is also super slow or not working at all - I can go to the ROCK in Finder but no content is loading.
This worked normally earlier today, after I had already updated to the new versions.
I am on RoonOS 3.0 (and have been for several days).
But there are no Focus criteria and clicking Reset does nothing.
And ROCK SMB is still not loading. Edit: Same after ROCK reboot
And the ARC issue persists as well
EDIT: I take it back, the remotes are slow after the ROCK reboot again. But now the My Albums sort by Play Count does not show the Focus error. And I get the spinner (I did not change any library settings):
@oleh Seems better now but still some performance issue. Actually it seems quite intermittent, sometimes looks nearly ok for a few seconds/minutes, then back to broken again when trying something else. (I think the SMB stuff was a red herring at least in part, somehow I seem to have become disconnected. At least, now I went to Finder > Go > Connect to Server, and it reconnected)
Though there are still some hiccups: When I change sort order, I still get a Focus error occasionally (not every time), just now when switching to By Artist.
But now the error clears itself after a few seconds and then it takes a few more seconds for the sort to be actually correct. Probably still some performance hiccup.
The play history in the remote loads slow-ish.
My Albums looks ok at the top but when I scroll down there are still just gray covers and they take several seconds to load, whenever I scroll further.
My Artists also look fine at the top but when I scroll down they just stop somewhere in A, and this does not seem to load with delay, at least not after a minute or so:
It seems better for me right now (but I have been fooled before). Though all artists are there, for instance, and everything seems to be loading, though with a small delay
Then pressed Pause. Then I pressed Play again but the only thing that happened was a bouncing progress bar. It remained stuck there for a minute or two, then continued playing
I played one local track and there was no issue during this (could not try longer)
On the iPhone, however, things are super slow again. (Edit 20 mins later: Actually does not work at all, still stuck like in the screenshot, and every other view as well):
Some actions look normal, others are weird and slow.
Here, I just switched My Albums from sort by Most Played to by Artist. The second row is actually still the Most Played order, the top row gray albums appeared after the order change, it looks like it got stuck while trying to change it. This has not been changing for more than a minute now:
Then I changed back My Albums and got the Focus error message again.
When I changed to sort by Most Played, I first got only gray boxes for a minute
Then the first 50 or so album covers loaded, so it looked ok at first, but scrolling down there were still just gray boxes, which load slowly when they are in view while I scroll further.
Edit 30 mins later: I restarted the iPad and now I only get gray boxes/circles everywhere.
And ARC still does not sync Recent Activity Played/Added, but otherwise is working.
OK so I lost my nerve and deleted my ROCK’s RoonServer/Cache. After restarting the server and remotes, Roon was busy for a while “adding albums to library” (purple spinner), but it settled after a few minutes.
For now, it feels like this may have improved performance. On macOS, iPad, and iPhone it seems that all views are working normally now, no extreme slowness, no jellyfishes, no gray boxes/circles, etc. The only exception I found is that, while all other My Albums sort modes work well, the sort by Most Played is completely wrecked. It shows only the same two (instead of 3232) albums on all three remotes. This hasn’t changed in the past few minutes, either, and switching between different sort options or restarting the app has no effect on it:
And now, finally, the “fine again” really does seem to apply to macOS, iPad, and iPhone, in all their views. Except that ARC still isn’t syncing recent activity, but I guess that’s a different problem then.
