Restore failed after reinstall

Hello,

I am using the latest version of Rooncore on my qnap TS-879U-RP, that was working great until a few hours ago.
Suddenly playback stopped and I lost connection to the core.
Stopping and starting the core does not solve the issue so I decided to remove the content of the RoonServer share.
Startup of the core is working again.
when I try to restore my backup it works up to around 20% and then produces an error
“Restore Failed, Please check your backup folder and try again”
This error occurs with the backup from last night, but also from previous backups
I also tried to reset the database and reinstall the software from the advanced tab of the roon core in the appcenter of qnap but stil the same result when I restore the backup
Can you give me some advise please

Regards

John

Below is a part from the roonserver_log, maybe it is helping a bit.

Getting a bit nervous, tried to restore the backup to another newly installed core, gives the same result :worried:

Let’s tag @support for you.

Thank you Carl, I forgot it.

@John_Hoogeveen I am not a specialist in Roon backups, but it appears you have more than one backup set in your Roon backup folder. One starting with a1f4bf9e and the other f65470ca. Maybe restore is getting confused while trying to use both? The log you have posted indicates that both folders are accessed. This might be expected behaviour depending on OS. I run Roon core on Linux and see only one folder. The QNAP is also Linux so I’d look into this if I where you. Maybe others can chime in with their info and knowledge. I’ll also leave a flag for @crieke who maintains Synology and QNAP versions.

Hi Olav,

That is indeed true, one backup set is from my older linux installation, the core was called “zkr-roonlabs”
The other is from my qnap. In the restore dialog that is also clearly shown, in the past that was no issue.
My assumption is that it should work.
Just to continue to use my library I decided to start from scratch for now and to re-import my music in a clean set.
I am glad that must my music is recognised and the amount of manual labor to fix it is limited
Afterwards I made a new backup and restored it to my “test core” and that works fine.
Hopefully support can give some advise on how to proceed, for now I am enjoying my music again which is a good thing, I am relaxed now :stuck_out_tongue:
