Description of Issue

I made sure I set Roon to perform nightly backups. I specified it keep the 3 most recent backups. Then, I had to uninstall Roon and a bunch of other applications, but I made sure I kept those Backup folders. When I reinstalled Roon, no matter which Backup I click on of the 3 previous Backups, it will not load anything whatsoever when I try to “Restore from Backup”. This was my main talking point when I told friends about Roon-- that my favourite feature was that it would save your library (specifically my Playlists) even if I had to uninstall or something went haywire. Whereas other streaming apps usually delete your playlists automatically. Please, I will do anything to get those playlists back, even if it’s extremely technical and convoluted. Please help.

Where are you trying to restore from backup?

Like Ged says, where are you thinking your Backups are stored?

That last screenshot you show has the path ending in RoonBackups. That’s when you should click the “Select this folder” button, which should then bring up the Backup Manager screen for you to choose the Backup you want to restore. Like this:

= [ i tried all 3 available backups, individually. each time, it loads very quickly to 100% and says Restore successful, and then: “Relaunch Roon to continue.” So, I do… and then for some reason it signs me out and I have to sign in again… and, when I do: absolutely nothing is recovered from my backup. : /

Hey @Kai_Voss,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues getting your backups to restore successfully! Im curious, you mention you have auto backups set up each night, yet the backups you have available are quite outdated.

Had you at all noticed any issues or failures backing up before you had to uninstall Roon?

I’d like to take a closer at one of your backups, if possible. Steps to follow below:

  1. Follow the recovery steps above
  2. Zip up your RoonBackups folder (right-click it and select “Compress…”):
  3. Submit the .zip file to us through our Database Corruption Issues portal
