Dr. Yunupingu has passed away at age 46.
His influence on Australian music is a legacy that will live through the ages. A member of Yothu Yindi (guitars, keyboards, percussion) and later the Saltwater Band, he had an extremely succesful solo career winning awards for his recordings and selling out performances across the country.
His haunting tenor voice has been described as the most beautiful ever recorded in Australia.

Dr Yunupingu lived a traditional lifestyle on Elcho Island and sang predominantly in his native Yolngu language. He released an album of mixed English and Yolngu gospel music in 2015.
