RIP Jimmy Cobb ... Kind of blue

Sadly, “Kind of Blue” drummer Jimmy Cobb has died on the age of 91. RIP Jimmy.

Ooh. Sad. I saw him live, but can’t remember when and where… great drummer.

Weirdly enough, I was just listening to KoB a few mins ago.
I recall Jimmy saying that he was originally worried that he’d over-hit the symbol at 1:30 on So What. Nope, he absolutely nailed it. Amazing drummer. RIP.

Take a listen to Jazz In The Key Of Blue released in 2009 by Chesky Records where Cobb is joined by Roy Hargrove on flugelhorn and guitarist Russell Malone. Excellent performances and great sonics captured by a single microphone in a NYC church.
