He was in Melbourne in December, but I didn’t go …
I heard him on the radio though, and as a result have been listening to Memphis Underground with him and Herbie Mann. Great album. In the interview Brian Wise referred to Herbie as “the hairiest man in show business” which rendered Larry helpless with laughter. Rest in Jazz.
One of my all-time favorites. He and Miles were the first two jazz artists I discovered - decades ago.
He had finished recording a new Eleventh House album recently which will be released in April I believe.
So sad to lose another fine musician.
