Ripped CD identified but no artwork imported despite appearing in album identification (ref#3KAIQT)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Music won’t play or issues with my library

Music won’t play or issues with my library

· Local files won't import or appear

Tell us what's going on

· Ripped CD is identified correctly, but CD artwork is not imported even though the artwork appears in the "identify album" function.

Tell us about your home network

· Swisscom Internet Box 5 router, Wired Ethernet network, Netgear 8 port Gigaswitch

CD is correctly identified…

but CD artwork does not show up…

In Roon settings on your local device, there is a button to clear local (image?) cache.
Click on it to refresh your images. That should do the trick.

Thank you so much. I did find the button and cleared the cache. Twice. But still no cigar.

By the way, I imported another CD aftewards, and the artwork was imported just fine.

Hello @Theodore_ECONOMOU,

Thank you for trying the cache clear first! Since that didn’t resolve the issue and your other recent imports are working perfectly, it indicates a metadata preference conflict specific to this one album.

Here is how to manually force Roon to display the artwork that yu want:

  1. Go to the main page of the album with the missing artwork.
  2. Click the three dots () next to the Play buttons and select Edit.
  3. In the Album Editor window, click on the Metadata Preference tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Artwork row and change the selection to Prefer file. (Note: If it is already set to “Prefer file”, try toggling it to “Prefer Roon” or “Prefer best”).
  5. Click Save.

This manual override tells Roon exactly where to pull the image from and should force the cover art to populate on your screen. Let us know if that brings the artwork back!

Thank you very much dear @vadim . Followed your instructions, but no impact :(. very weird. Thank for offering your advice. Best wishes, Theodore

Hi,

I am experiencing a persistent issue with album artwork not being retained after identifying albums.

Setup:

  • Roon Server 2.67 (build 1661) on Mac Mini

  • Music files: FLAC on QNAP TS-453A NAS via SMB

  • All import settings set to “Prefer Roon”

The issue: When I identify an album, Roon correctly shows the artwork during the identification process. After clicking Save, the artwork is not applied. When I go to Edit Album → Metadata Preferences → Artwork, the “Prefer Roon” option shows “No image” — meaning Roon is not downloading and saving the artwork from its own database to the local library.

This happens consistently across many albums. The cover.jpg in the album folder is correct, but “Prefer file” picks up the wrong embedded artwork from the FLAC files instead.

This worked correctly before — the issue started after reinstalling Roon on a new Mac Mini.

Is there a known fix or workaround other than adding artwork manually for each album?

Thank you.

Hello @Matteo_Brignoli @Theodore_ECONOMOU

It might be helpful to have the file(s) for testing on our end as well, can please upload them here and let us know?
