Installed a 2TB Crucial BX500 in the SSD slot. Updated BIOS to latest version - BIOS recognized the SSD during configuration.
SSD was recognized by the ROCK installer, but ROCK was installed on the m.2 drive as expected.
Once ROCK was up and running, it did not recognize the SSD, so I was unable to use it for music storage. I removed the SSD from the NUC and put it in an external USB enclosure; it was then recognized and my music files were installed on it.
Am I missing something from the installation process that would cause this? Things are working as expected now, but I would like to keep the SSD internal if possible.

I take it that this was installed as a second drive with the first being the NVME drive with the OS, Roon Server app and the Roon database on it.
If not you have a problem. Running RoonOS and Roon Server from a SATA drive will work but it will not allow you to copy music to the same drive.
If the SATA SSD is installed as the second drive, then, after the physical install it should show up in the RoonOS web gui - usually found at http://ROCK where it can be formatted. Until it is formatted from the WebUi, the new drive is not useable.
Once formatted, the SATA drive appears as a folder in the RoonOS filesystem within the Storage folder.
You can then copy files to it at
\\rock\Data\Storage\InternalStorage (Windows clients) or smb://rock/Data/Storage/InternalStorage (Mac/Linux clients).
Note: in all cases, if ‘rock’ doesn’t work, you can replace ‘rock’ with the IP address of your Rock device.
Did you partition and format the drive using Roon OS’ web administration page as described in the guide?
This is what you need to do for internal storage. The formatting will delete all the data on the drive, you have to copy the data again after formatting – use the network to do so.
So, I DID miss something - namely, formatting the drive from the web admin page. The drive is now visible and now being loaded with music over my network.
We’re glad to hear you were able to get this sorted with the assistance of some helpful users. We’re going to mark this Solved, but please reach out if we can answer any other questions.
I’m good here - thanks all for the assistance! My fundamental issue was I did not realize the web admin page was separate from the app. I think the install guide could be improved by making that distinction.
