ROCK on i5 NUC+Ares II

Hello all. I have a i5 NUC running ROCK, with an external hard drive for the music. My other components are a Denafrips Ares II, Bluesound Node 2i, a Chromecast Audio. The Chromecast Audio and Node 2i both feed the Ares II, then out to an old Pioneer AV receiver.

I’m thinking of using the USB output on the NUC into the Ares II’s USB input, when playing music from my library. Has anyone tried this combination? Did you have to download and install drivers for the Ares II? Other than switching the input on the Ares II when going from library to streaming, are there any other downsides? Thanks.

Jast an FYI, there is no way to install drivers in Rock. If the ares does need drivers, you would need to use a different OS.

I also use an Ares II occasionally and it won’t require drivers on a NUC(LEUS)/ROCK. Only potential annoyance would be the lack of a remote, to switch inputs as you seem aware.
