ROCK Roon Server update issues

close / same situation here: running roon rock / roon server 2.49 (build 1225) production, clients (windows and ios) updated to current version 2.50 (build 1228) without any problems. just roon server seems not to be able to update, previous updates always worked.

server / rock reboot did not work, os reinstall on rock did not work too. I also use pi-hole as adware and dns filter, disabling pi-hole filtering and disabling pi-hole dns settings in the router also did not help, even setting dns in rock to 1.1.1.1. was not successful.

The system works so far and I can listen to music so no problem for the moment, just wish to update to the most recent version in some days.

Thanks a lot for intergrating tailscale, ARC normally works for me with IPV6 on Vodafone Cable but when ARC fails I sometimes still use Tailscale. Before integration in rock I used Tailscale on another machine that was set up as subnet router.

Hello @Florian_Adelsberger.

The issue might be related to technical maintenance on our servers.
Please try rebooting all Roon-related devices and check for available updates via the About page.

Let us know if the problem persists.

Thank you for your reply. I tried it serveral times over several days from April 30 until today, unfortunately still the same. Today I had ARC issues when not using Tailscale, maybe also related to the update issue?

Have rebooted the router and the NUC several times. As I wrote I use Pi-hole for Ad blocking. Rock uses static IP settings and circumvents Pi-hole. Gateway and DNS of rock point directly to the internal IP of the internet router. Other local clients that are configured by the routers DHCP get Pi-hole as DNS server. Pi-hole is used as the routers downstream DNS, non blocked queries are passed from Pi-hole to the router. It does not seem Pi-hole is involved in the rock update issue.

Not urgent as local playing is absolutely working, just the update screen appears several times but can be clicked away.

message that appears after update failure

tried manual reinstall / update of OS and server from rock web interface but seems that did not work too

serveral times appearing update message - a bit annoying

Hi @Florian_Adelsberger,

I’ve split off your replies into their own thread for proper tracking - please create your own support thread in the future by navigating through our typeform. Thank you :raised_hands:

We’re not able to enable diagnostics for your ROCK to take a closer look, if you could please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader? Once logs have been uploaded, please let us know so that we can check the server for your files, thanks!

You may also be able to complete the update by accessing the webUI of your ROCK and performing a RoonOS reinstall - here’s more info on this:

Thank you! :+1:

as I showed in the screenshot above I already navigated several times to the Roon OS interface at rock.local. I tried several times to initiate a RoonOS reinstall but that did not seem to work.

I also tried to connect to \ROCK smb share from a Windows 11 machine. Login as Guest and Password also as Guest did not seem to work?

Weird! Got a solution. Log out from Tailscale on RoonOS. Then the RoonOS reinstall and the update to build 1528 worked immediately.
