Describe the issue

My ROCK setup still gets slow after the latest firmware update, but the threshold is now 5 days instead of 3. Playback, search engine and home screen takes up to 1 min to start or load. This has been happening since March/April, when will this be sorted out? The only fix is a complete reboot of ROCK.

Hi @jazMirti,

Thank you for your patience. We’ll of course investigate promptly.

We’ve gathered relevant diagnostics around the slowdown incident and escalated to development. Worth note, the heap growth is spiking around the time Roon readies the queue for a Denon grouped Zone; the queue looks to be around ~7000 tracks. We’ll follow up shortly when we learn more.

Strange, I have queued a large Tidal playlist (around 500 tracks) though. Is it played tracks that stays in the queue that makes the system slow down? In that case, when does Roon drop old queues?

Hello @jazMirti

Good question. There’s already an open ticket tracking improvements to this behavior, and R&D is actively working on it. We’re checking whether it lands as fixed in build 1674, but we don’t have an exact timeframe yet.
Once that release is out, could you please update to it and let us know whether the slowdown still occurs? If it does, please update this thread with what you’re seeing so we can keep digging.

Thanks for the reply. I will update here if it keeps slowing down after the next update.

Sounds great @jazMirti, we should have another Early Access release containing potential fixes update launching soon, so it won’t be a long wait. :folded_hands:

Hi @jazMirti,

There’s an Early Access release undergoing testing here that includes some of the aforementioned changes:

We expect those changes to be released soon in a public production update. Keep an eye on the Software Release Notes where we’ll detail any changes. Thank you!

The memory and performance improvements discussed in this thread are still undergoing testing in Early Access, and we anticipate they’ll be released in the upcoming Roon public update afterwards.

If you’d like to migrate to Early Access you can find instructions here. Otherwise, the wait won’t be much longer for a production release. Thank you!
