@DrCWO I’m investigating a issue with my RME ADI 2/4 pro SE - where the balance is reset to the central position on startup, and I now suspect this is being done by rooADI - and wanted to check with you.
Details:
My ADI 2/4 pro SE is normally powered off. My HA automation system notices when music is played to the zone, and powers on the RME - and my valve power amp. It also pauses the roon zone to wait for the power amp to warm up (which also gives plenty of time for rooADI to detect and link to the RME).
My RME is connected to rooExtend by USB, but takes a digital input from another Pi via the AES input.
The combination of the tube power amp - and speaker location means I need the RME balance control offset to correctly centre the stereo image. I have this set in all my stored RME setups.
I’m not sure when it started happening - but currently the balance control is reset to the centre when everything starts up.
I finally had time to investigate today - and after disconnecting rooExtend to update the RME to the latest firmware, I found that the RME retained the balance setting when powering down and up.
Reconnecting rooExtend - the balance control was reset to the centre when the RME powered up.
Questions:
Is rooADI resetting the balance control?
Is there a way to disable the rooADI balance reset?
Is there a way to set the balance on rooADI to the position I need?
I guess a fallback is to use the DSP in roon to do my balance settings.
All thoughts welcome.
