With the next release of rooExtend thr RoonCommandLine Tool will be integrated and available within rooMax. It would be possible to do these things using RoonCommandline and assign buttons to those commands.

Thank you for the good news, I can’t wait.

Hello
I had to replace my rooExtend Box and now have a Raspberry Pi running. The backup failed. Now I wanted to re-enter the license keys on the Raspberry Pi. However, I cannot save them. Do the license keys first have to be released from the old box? If so, how can I do that? I no longer have access to the old box.
Bruno
Yes, you have to revoke the old Licenses on the rooExtendBox before being able to use them on the Raspberry Pi.
For revoking open the Settings Dialog of the License Manager on the rooExtend-Box and select “Revoke license” for the Roon Extension you like to revoke.
After revocation you can use the revoked License Key with your Raspberry Pi.

Thanks a lot, but I no longer have access to the rooExtend Box because it won’t start up anymore. I’ve tried everything, but nothing helps.
Bruno
If you are able to flash a SD-Card with Balena Etcher I can provide a SD-Card image for the rooExtend-Box. You can try this as I never saw a rooExtend-Box dying until now. But SD-Cards sometimes die during power up.
Please let me know.

Please send me an SD card image. Do I need to boot the rooExtend Box with the new SD card using the USB stick backup?
Bruno
Just wanted to share my feedback to current users and prospective buyers of the rooExtend box. My SD card failed and DrCWO was very responsive in providing the software file to flash to a new card, guiding me through the process, and re-enabling my extension licenses.Thank you for your help.
Spotify is now available in lossless, is it possible with rooplay to stream it lossless to/with roon?
If you stream to rooPlay via the iOS Spotify App for example, a 16/44.1 signal will be transferred as is to Roon. What I don’t know if using Airplay to stream to rooPlay via Spotify App the signal got distorted by the Spotify App, by iOS or by Airplay. Please check information from Apple or other Spotify users regarding this.
In one of the next releases we will see rooSpot, a new Roon extension emulating a Spotify-Connect receiver for Roon. With this (already in Beta on my system) I will test if a lossless Spotify Stream will be sent next week.

Thanks for explanation. If you need a beta tester, just tell me:-)
I do NOT have the ROOExtend Box, only the ROON Nucleus A server & the Xencelabs Remote. Can I use the RooNUmio extension with my setup? Are there any features using the Xencelabs remote, that a Tablet running the ROON app does not do? Thank you
What you need to make the Quickkeys or the Nuimo remote run with Roon is either a rooExtend-Box or a Raspberry Pi flashed with the rooExtend image.
You can find more information about this DIY Raspberry solution here.
You can take a look at my rooMax video to learn how smooth rooMax integrates the QuickKEys Controller into Roon.

Greetings @DrCWO,
I’m looking for suggested hardware to use with rooExtend to bring an AES stream into Roon. I’ve read the rooPlay section of the user manual and see the RME suggestions, but would like to make sure I pick the right elements for my use case. Which is:
Audio is extracted from HDMI sources by a VanityPro audio extractor, and output as AES. This stream should be passed through Roon back to my two channel system. I’ll be using RoonDSP for lip-sync delay and for room correction long the way. Two channel is sufficient. The audio passed through can have some latency, but needs to be fairly quick to sync with video.
What hardware would you suggest to use in combination with rooExtend in this case?
Thanks, Peter
I just read about the 10 seconds delay on the rooPlay thread. I guess this kills my use case unless there’s a way around this latency?
The Roon API and also the Input for Radio Stations buffers the incoming signal massively to avoid dropouts caused by async clock of input and output (dac). This is intrinsic in Roon and cannot be changed even if the in- and output is in sync. In this case this big buffer would be avoidable but it cannot switched off ![]()
Also the Roon filter sections (if used) add even more delay. This is fine for Radio and also for playback from Vinyl and other sources. But it is a killer for TV playback for example.
You can use the ADI as a DAC for TV but not via Roon ![]()
Sorry but I can’t change that behavior.

Hello,
any news regarding the new “RooSpot”?
Will come with the next release but lossy only ![]()

so sad…anyway. Last question: Airplay 2 is able to send it lossless, airplay 1 don’t. By using just rooplay will it be airplay 2?
And secondly, it must be anything else than apple music. apple music will be lossy over airplay the others (tidal, etc…) don’t
With rooExtend Airplay is lossless IF you send lossless data. So ALAC files on your device will play lossless.
Using lossless Spotify via Airplay it should be lossless for example.
