Swiping left/right is a bit hit and miss even with practise. Not a fluid experience, therefore practically useless.
I’ll bet Roon would like to know the model and specs of your machine. And a video of the experience would be particularly telling.

iPad Pro 2019. Do you get a fluid experience?
It’s an interesting implementation. Seems to only pick up swipes from edge areas (iPad Pro 12.9) which works ok if you’re holding it with both hands on either side and thumb swiping. Not so great when you have the iPad flat on a table and have hands hovering more centrally. On iPhone (XS) it’s a bit ridiculous. Most of my swipes are in the centre of the screen where they are not registered.
