I have also found since updating both Roon (2.0 build 1223) and Ventura 13.2.1 (Mac silicon) that the combination seems to have become unstable. I use a dCS Bartok and can only play music when the system wants to, not when I wish.
Much rebooting and downloading and fresh install of Roon, can get it to work. However one can only do so much of this to merely play a tune…
Hey @Sean_Sullivan,
I’ve split your reply off into its own thread for proper attention. Please fill out the necessary system information below. The more detail the better:
Roon Core Machine
Include your operating system and machine info (Model, CPU, RAM)
Networking Gear & Setup Details
Your network gear (model of routers/switches) and if on WiFi/Ethernet
Connected Audio Devices
Specify what devices you’re using and their connection types, like USB/HDMI/Chromecast, etc.
Number of Tracks in Library
Tell us how large your music library is, eg. “30,000 tracks”
Description of Issue
Tell us about the problem you’re having in as much detail as possible. Screenshots are always appreciated!
Ben; I am using:
MacBook Air M2 24GB.
Latest BT Router with 54mbps (best “copper” line BB available). WiFi to Mac but hardwired to dCS Bartok.
dCS Bartok 2.0 via hardwire to router.
I have 365 in My Albums.
Storage says I have 2505 tracks imported.
Issue:
Once opened from menu tray below, Roon will bring up album to screen and then when “Play All” clicked, does not proceed to play. A small solid blue horizontal line can appear rather than a dancing blue line next to the supposed track to be played…no music.
Rebooting can help as has reloading a fresh new Roon…by then I just put on a vinyl album as it becomes toooo much.
HELLO…ANYONE OUT THERE?
My Roon issue is no better and frankly is now rather tiresome…typing it all onto this website has not helped really…
Hi @Sean_Sullivan roon support doesn’t operate at the weekend so you’re not going to get a response until tomorrow
Roon recommends that your Core is hardwired with ethernet to the router so the “wifi to Core” may be causing problems for you.
From personal experience anything other than a hardwired router connection to the core can cause all sorts of problems.
Thanks PP…
…Weekends are just the exact time many of us are listening to our music and likely using Roon…
However I am thankful for your suggestion, I was hoping not to trail ethernet cables around. Methinks this being the case I may need an alternative provider…
Be well,
Sean
You shouldn’t need to look for another provider, just think about how your home network is set up… I’m sure the community can come up with suggestions if you need help.
It’s probably worthwhile experimenting with some cables until you’ve proved where the problem lies.
Then, as @Geoff_Coupe suggests, post the results and there’ll be plenty of help and it’s likely that reconfiguring your network may resolve your problems.
Hey @Sean_Sullivan,
Thanks for the info. At this time, I’m not able to enable diagnostics on your core device. As a next step, can you please reproduce the issue, and share a set of manual logs from the core device? Please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader.
If you could share a timestamp of the issue, as well as the name of the track you attempt to play, that would be helpful as well.
