Yes, Roon is running on Docker on the attached USB SSD drive (not a USB stick). Container Station is installed on the hard drive of the NAS. (From what I understand, Container Station can’t be installed on an attached USB drive. If I’m wrong, would like to know how so that I can install it on the SSD drive.)
I’ll look into the the speed of the SDD. And it’s “relatively” fresh…2 years old perhaps.
For those who wish to submit their database for testing, please do so by following these instructions to access it, and then upload the compressed file to the following link with your username:
Once you’ve uploaded your database, please like () my current post or leave a reply so that we know to check for your database in the uploader. Thank you in advance for your assistance in tracking this down, @UliR , @DDPS , @Akio_Ito , @RayK , @Piotr_Wasilewski , @Javier_Llorente , @ErickL, @CoralRad, and any others who wish to contribute.
My Roon is running on a QNAP NAS in a container. There are a few folders named “database” and “RoonServer,” so the instructions aren’t clear, and I’m not sure which ones you want me to share.
It’s been much better since the 2.65 release but I still feel it necessary to reboot every few days to maintain performance. In particular loading an artist from an album view and discography can experience lag.
One suggestion, could the home page be cached and only reload on change or once a day? In particular I notice that it takes a short while to load the new releases for you section which really only changes daily.
Comparing the last build I used in mid April to the latest build (to develop an extension) I felt Roon had gone backwards in performance. Lagging on screens it rarely did before.
As I was only using Roon to test the extension it doesn’t affect me as it will others.
I had a library around ~169k tracks (local and Qobuz).
this takes forever. It’s been calculating the time necessary to compress the Roonserver folder. For hours now. At first I restarted it a few times, because I couldn’t believe it would take this long. But it’s going to take hours.
Roon is on a nuck. I closed down the roon server. Closed every roon app on ipads and phones. Restarted my mac. Every now and then I check, but no changes. Is this normal?
Thank you for the update. Based on the screenshot attached, you need to send the database located under the /Container/roon/RoonServer/, but it would be better if you would zip and attach the whole roon folder, including roon-backups and other subfolders.
