Roon will soon not support any macOS version older than Monterey. I have a mac mini that I sometimes use as an endpoint. Will it stop to be supported as an endpoint? Meaning can I run the latest Roon version that is supported on Catalina after the switch and still see it as an endpoint?

Understood. But my question is whether the old version of Roon (now current) will still work as an endpoint. I don’t have to update it.
I suppose the answer is it will work until it doesn’t. I am ok with that. At that point I can use OpenCore Legacy Patcher to put Monterey on it.
The guidance isn’t explicit, but implies that all Roon software needs to be held back, if you want to stay on an older release.
Since one of the dependencies is SSL, which introduced TLSv1.3, it it possible that different versions of Roon will not work together.
I have disabled auto-update on this machine. We shall see. Installing OCLP is not a biggie.
I think you have to hold back on the whole Roon ecosystem not just the one end point.
If that is the case then I will move the mac mini to Monterey with OCLP. But I very much doubt I will need to for some time.

Thanks for reaching out to our Support.
With the upcoming update, it will no longer be possible to run Roon, Roon Server, or Roon Bridge on macOS versions older than Monterey.
While you could technically try to stay on an older version of Roon Bridge by disabling auto updates, we cannot guarantee cross-version compatibility.
As the Roon ecosystem evolves, “version drift” will eventually cause communication issues between your Core and the endpoint.
Since you mentioned OCLP, that would be a solid path forward to get Monterey running.
Alternatively, installing Windows or a Linux distribution on your Mac Mini would also solve the compatibility issue, as those platforms aren’t restricted by the same hardware-legacy limits as macOS.
Just a quick heads-up regarding the Docker solution on macOS: due to how Docker handles networking on Mac, it lacks native mDNS support, so your Roon Core likely won’t be able to “see” the endpoint rolled out in a container.

Thx Alex. I will go the OCLP route. I have a macpro from 2010 on OCLP v1.5 and Monterey that works perfectly, so I have experience how to install it and make it work.
