As soon as I can I will continue to check the other points
Thanks for sending the Device Manager screenshots. They point us somewhere new, and I think they explain why nothing so far has worked.
Up to now we’ve been treating this as a .NET problem, because of the crash code. But your screenshots show something underneath that: your AMD Radeon graphics device is failing to start.
Here’s what the logs say. On the Events tab, your graphics card was last working normally in February 2022 (driver oem13.inf). Then on 20 May 2026 a new driver, oem40.inf, was installed and the device logged “Dispositivo non avviato” (device failed to start), alongside a Kernel-PnP error 411 with status 0xC00000E5. In plain terms, a Windows update swapped in a graphics driver that your card isn’t starting up under.
Why this matters for Roon: the Roon app draws its window using your graphics hardware. If the graphics driver won’t start, the app crashes the moment you click it, which matches your “I click and nothing happens” exactly. It also explains why the .NET repairs, reinstalls, and database refresh didn’t help. They were aimed at the wrong cause.
When you updated your drivers earlier, the update didn’t fully take. Your card is still on the broken oem40.inf. So this time let’s do a clean reinstall rather than just an update:
- Press the Windows key, type "Gestione dispositivi" and open Device Manager.
- Expand "Schede video" and right-click "AMD Radeon Graphics".
- Choose "Disinstalla dispositivo". If you see a checkbox to also delete the driver software, tick it.
- Restart your PC.
- Go to http://amd.com , download the official driver for your Radeon model, and install it.
- Restart again.
One quick test that would help confirm the diagnosis: try launching Roon Server on its own (the Roon Server shortcut), separately from the main Roon app. Roon Server doesn’t rely on the graphics card the way the app does, so if the server starts while the app doesn’t, that confirms the graphics driver is the culprit. Let us know what each one does.
Once the graphics device starts cleanly, please try Roon again and tell us how it goes. Thank you!
The latest available diagnostics don’t indicate that your Roon Server or Remotes were recently online. We’ve not seen a response in some time and want to ensure this issue is resolved.
We’ll watch for your reply. Thank you!
Hi Connor. Thank you for your interest.
No, the problem isn’t solved, but as I said, I’m too busy with work, and all these checks, for me, who’s not an IT expert, are taking up a lot of my time, which I need to find as soon as possible.
Sorry, about this. I’m going to try and carve out some time today to review everything and see if we can focus in on a solution faster.
Hi Benjamin. I’ll try it now.
However, keep in mind that the problem arose directly and immediately after a Roon update.
All other programs work normally, including Jriver, which I’m using while waiting for the Roon issue to be resolved.
I also don’t understand what you mean by “your graphics card won’t boot.”
How is this possible if I use the PC for all other purposes?
The motherboard doesn’t have an integrated graphics card; the only graphics card is the external one in use.
Thanks for your patience, and sorry this has dragged on so long, I know the back-and-forth on driver settings hasn’t been easy given you’re not looking to become a Windows systems admin over this.
One thing I want to rule out before we go further down the graphics driver path: everything you’ve reinstalled so far may still be using an installer package from back when you first hit this issue in April/May. Roon has shipped newer builds since then (you were on 2.67 build 1661 as of June), and installer packages occasionally bundle fixes to the exact kind of startup/runtime crash you’re seeing.
Could you do the following:
- Fully uninstall Roon and Roon Server via Windows "Add or remove programs."
- Delete the Roon and RoonServer folders under
%LOCALAPPDATA%(rename them if you'd rather keep a backup, as we discussed before, you already have your library backup safe, so this is just the app-side leftovers). - Go to roonlabs.com/downloads and grab a completely fresh copy of the current installer, please don't reuse any installer file you already have saved locally, even if it looks like the same version number.
- Install and try launching Roon Server first, on its own, before touching the Roon app shortcut.
Let us know how the fresh install goes, if Roon Server starts on its own but the full Roon app still doesn’t, that alone will tell us a lot.
Thanks again for sticking with this, Mauro. ![]()

Hi Benjamin, I’ve already done these steps but they didn’t work.
Roon Server not starting, same as Roon App.
From the device manager everything seems fine.
You can see it in the screenshot photo I uploaded 23 days ago, in response to point 4 that Vadim had suggested
Thanks for giving that a try @Mauro_Emiliano_Demon, your ticket is still in review with our development team, and so we’ll be in touch once they provide additional information or insight into potential next steps. ![]()
