Bose Soundtouch Link connected via WiFi
Description Of Issue
No information on Bose endpoints but the three I have all appear to work and be seen by the iMac running the Core (also 3 Apple TV’s are seen as well). Can’t seem to find any info on this but these links have a dac but also support optical toslink out and only cost $149. All the endpoints are running the latest Bose Soundlink firmware/software. I’m brand new to Roon and looking for cost effective endpoints and there really is no info on interfacing with Bose. Same endpoints work with Amazon/Alexa. Also the link works with external dacs or even with my Emotive UMC-200 which has internal DAC with external optical/coaxial inputs. Would love to learn more.
Thanks for reaching out! Apologies, I don’t quite understand what your question or issue is here, can you clarify? Are you having any issues with playback to your Bose devices? Are you using Airplay/Bluetooth to stream to it?
Thank you for reaching out and trying to address my question.
I am trying to find compatible Roon end points. I was searching by brand and looked to see if any of the Bose Soundtouch products would work since I owned several. I could not find any listed in your Roon Ready Partners web page. Could also not find a list of other products that would interface for other “protocols” you supported. In the end I discovered that the Bose Soundtouch products supported AirPlay and therefor appear to work with Roon Core. Maybe its too big a list but it would be nice if there was a support page(s) to list devices working through each protocol like AirPlay, Google Cast, etc.
Thank you for the info. Have a follow up question. When in Roon and looking at Audio Setup page it would be great if the advanced menu would tell you the protocol Roon is using to discover the device your looking at.
Roon Ready, Roon Tested, Airplay, Squeezebox, and other Audio Devices should already be separated by protocol in use. If you would like any more advanced features that are currently not available, please let us know in the feature request section!
