Is it possible to use vst or au plugins with Roon? I had found a solution with HLHost, but in my case it cannot be used because it requires a connection to the DAC via USB.
my DAC doesn’t have USB. it is roon ready and connects to roon via upnp.
a Workaround?
Roon does NOT support DNLA not sure how you are connected.
Its a point of principle RAAT was developed specifically as a alternative to DNLA
I guessed that as the DAC is Roon Ready he’s probably using this (RAAT) and just isn’t aware that it’s not the same as UPnP/DLNA.
Yes RAAT. Atoll MS120
Just in case you are interested (i.e. RAAT is not UPnP/DLNA):
Thank you.
But no usb connection. So I can’t use HLHost for VST or AU.
A workaround?
I have no idea about VST, sorry
Is there a way to use VST or AU?
Not with/from Roon. What you do on your PC outside of Roon is your business. If you install some virtual soundcard that Roon can play to and allows you to mix-in VST plug-ins use that. Obviously you need then a way to send the altered output from that virtual soundcard to your DAC. If the virtual soundcard and your DAC both support uPnP/DLNA you can use that over the existing network connection. Else you would need a physical connection of some sort from a real soundcard or USB.
Maybe it would help if you could state what you need those VST plug-ins for. I see you already extensively use what Roon’s DSP section has to offer, so I (and others potentially too) have a hard time to imagine what is missing that you cant do/emulate with what’s already there.
PS: As there is no VST/AU support in Roon, this whole thread feels misplaced to me here and is IMHO better moved to Tinkering. @moderators
Good point. Done. Thanks.
Good point. I pay a subscription and do questions,
I hope that we all are free to do questions and waiting for answers.
