It may not be relevant but denying the Notifications permission for the new Android app appears to be causing problems.

I don’t know whether this is related, but I found the Android app on my Lenovo Chromebook behaving oddly after the update, with heavy flickering and a top bar on the display that shouldn’t have been there. (I know Roon is not officially supported on ChromeOS, but it’s usually fine.) When the app updated it asked for Notifications permission and, without thinking, I denied it.
