Describe the issue

When I open the Roon app on my tablet I get the app says There was an issue loading your library

Describe your network setup

Rock installed on an Intel NUC

There is a guide for troubleshooting that issue:

Thanks. I had a look at that guidance. I opened the ROCK web use interface on my android mobile phone. But I could not find the ROON server folder I’m supposed to rename as ‘old’.

Ive been using the Roon app on my Android tablet to select music to play.

As you can (not) see from the linked guide on how to access Roon’s data directory:

There are no instructions for mobile OSes or Linux given (just MacOS and Windows). IIRC does Android not provide you with the ability to access (Windows) file shares over a network. Please use a supported OS from the guide or you may be on your own here. You might be able to find a file explorer for Android that works for what is needed here but I can’t recommend one to you – maybe another user has a tip for you in this regard?

PS: Roon’s mobile versions (Android, iOS) are not full featured Roon remotes, Roon Labs seems to expect that every user also has a supported desktop Roon client also (and therefor also access to the above described methods to access the Roon OS data directory).

Hello @Christopher_Martin1 ,

Are you able to perform those steps from a PC? It would be a bit easier, otherwise you’d probably need to install some kind of SMB client on your Android device. Also, please ensure that you stop your RoonServer before those steps via the Web UI:

I have opened my laptop. Certainly made it easier to navigate to the right place.

Ive opened a tab file:\rock\Data\
I can see the Roon server folder. I click right on my trackpad to rename (the way I would to rename a document folder of MS Word documents). But no luck. I cant see how to rename it RoonServerOld.

I have also stopped the Roon Software software server thing as described above. But still cant rename thevRoonServer

Try to use the Windows Explorer (file browser) instead of the web browser (as assumed from your screenshot), then renaming should be possible as usual when dealing with files and folders.

Nearly there. Thanks everyone for all your help.

Ive managed to do the above using my laptop.

Hopefully the albums I recently added via Qoubuz are there.

Ive added all the music folders that were previously linked to Roon. Plus Ive signed into Qobuz via the Roon app.

I went to set up audio. I thought I had added my Digital to Analogue Converter as the output device.

I select and play some music. Get this horrible distorted sound, a bit like the digital version of some far way radio station with a poor reception.
I see thats the hard drive version of the album. I try the Qobuz version: hurrah! The music sounds normal. I then play another album by the same artist, stored on my hard drive: sounds normal.

Play another album from hard drive: okay.

Doesnt sound as good as last week. I put that down to the DAC just being switched on and needing to warm up.

If only digital audio was as fuss free as just spinning a record

Hi @Christopher_Martin1,

This symptom sounds like an issue with digital signal processing. If you encounter this moving forward, please share a screenshot if Signal Path and the Device Setup page (gear icon) from the affected Zone in Settings → Audio.
