· Hi, I am using Brave webbrowser and I installed Brave on my Ipad A2902 latest firmware 26.5 I removed Safari and made Brave the default browser. When I want to start Roon Community within the Roon app the community refuses to show up. Activating Safari solves the problem. However I do want to use Brave webbrowser, because of security. It would be nice to start the default webbrowser and not only Safari. The same issue is for the support link in Roon, also a no show from the Roon app.
I know I can use community.roonlabs.com in Brave. It would be nice to start the community within Roon. Please do not start a discussion of what is the most secure webbrowser however feel free to 😉🫣 Brave is what I want to use.
I use Brave and Roon Community access from the app is all good, so it is possible. However, I am running on Android, I will check on my iPad and report back.
It looks like @Suedkiez may have found the culprit! On iOS, web browsers sometimes hold onto stale authentication tokens or site data that can prevent them from correctly rendering external links triggered by other applications.
Could you please try the steps @Suedkiez suggested? In your Brave browser, navigate to the Roon Community site, open the Site Settings, and select Shred Site Data.
Did that clear things up and allow the Community link to open correctly from within the Roon app?
OK seems Brave looks different on the iPad, I only have it on the iPhone and there is the “i” on the left of the address bar like in the screenshot that I posted previously, but perhaps only if there is an issue with the site (it’s now not there anymore for me after I fixed the issue):
But now I’m confused because I thought the issue was that community was not loading at all in Brave (which should cause the “i” button to appear), but I see now in your screenshot that it did load.
So it seems that I misunderstood what’s happening. Is the real issue that you want to open the community from here in the app …
… but then this does not work with Brave as the default browser? In this case, sorry, I have no idea. One would think that the Roon app just calls the macOS service to open the proper default browser. It’s possible that either your Brave isn’t properly registered as the default browser (can other apps open it correctly?) or that something is wrong in the Roon app causing this.
Maybe I did not explain it very well, sorry for that. It is indeed clicking on what you made yellow.Brave is installed as my default browser, Safari is deinstalled, so Brave is the only browser present on my Ipad.
I’m sorry for not reading with enough attention. It would still be interesting whether other apps that can open a browser do it successfully with Brave as the default. If no, the issue is somehow with Brave‘s registration as the default browser. If it works with other apps, the issue seems to be with Roon.
