Describe the issue

A few days ago, a new version of Roon was loaded on my DELL computer with Windows. Since then I can't run the Roon app on my computer, it keeps showing up the app's start page over and over again. I can't play music because it won't open in Roon at all. Please help.

Please do not post multiple threads for the same problem, it doesn’t help matters and usually has the opposite effect.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Hey @krzysztof.tobola,

Checking in on your thread, I see your Roon Server and remote were online and active recently, are you still having issues?

We’ll be on standby for your reply.

Hi, thanks for the info and trying to help. However, the problem with getting Roon to work on my computer still exists. The app doesn’t open, it still shows the opening page. I haven’t listened to music on Roon for about a week, so it’s strange that the Roon server was active during that time. Is it possible that someone took over / hacked my Roon account to listen to music?
Regards!
Kris.

Hi @krzysztof.tobola,
To investigate further we need some logs from you. Please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Hi,
I didn’t get any answers about account hacking. Roon still doesn’t work for me, I can’t listen to music…

Hi @krzysztof.tobola,
Sorry about the wait for a response. I’ve looked at the logs you sent and was able to see a crash happen. Let’s try a fresh database and see if your issues persist:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

Here is the process outlined from a Windows machine:

All Roon_old on Windows

Thank you. I’ll check solution after my vacation:)
Best regards.

Let us know how the above goes @krzysztof.tobola :raised_hands:

Dziękuję. Niestety, nie mogę zmienić nazwy pliku RAATServer na RAARServer_old - system protestuje i nie zezwala…

Cześć @krzysztof.tobola,

Czy jesteś w stanie przetłumaczyć otrzymany błąd? Aby potwierdzić, czy zamknąłeś Roon and Roon Server przed próbą zmiany nazwy folderu RAATServer?

Are you able to translate the error you receive? To confirm, did you quit Roon and Roon Server before attempting to rename the RAATServer folder?

Yes, I closed Roon and Roon Server before trying to rename the RAATServe folder. The error I get (translated) is: “The action cannot be completed because the folder or file is open in another program.” Weird.

Hey @krzysztof.tobola,

Weird indeed! If you close Roon Server and Roon, and reboot your machine, are you able to give it another try?

Hi,
I shut down the computer, restarted it - nothing worked. I can’t change the file names to “old”. The system doesn’t allow it.

“The action cannot be completed because the folder or file is open in another program”.
Again…

And you’re positive that Roon Server is not running in the background? You did uncheck the “Launch at Startup” option, didn’t you, before restarting your PC?

Hi @krzysztof.tobola,

@Geoff_Coupe brings up a good point - there seems to be an active instance of Roon running in some way. Let us know if you’re able to disable ‘Launch at Startup’ :+1:

Please give me info on how to do this…
