· Roon App on iPad closes immediately after opening Can anyone help or has seen this before and found a solution? iPad IOS 12.5.8 Have uninstalled and reinstalled roon on the iPad Rebooted and restarted roon Core Thank you.
Diagnostics indicate that the iPad is running an outdated version of Roon; please delete the Roon app and redownload it on the affected tablet to automatically update to the latest version.
A version mismatch between server and remote can cause crashing and disconnectivity symptoms.
Thank you for your patience. We first need to sort out the build parity issue on this tablet as it will possibly cause the same symptoms as the other report. Please double-check within Roon Settings → About on this iPad that you’re running Production Build 1673. The last diagnostics to reach our server were from an iPad Mini 3 that was running the 1646 release. The app store release for the most recent Roon version were slightly delayed.
Is the app currently crashing, or failing to open?
We’ll watch for your reply and proceed from there. Thank you.
Works for other apps I’ve tried; Sonos, Qobuz among others. Not Roon, yet. Once the App Store knows Roon requires a later version of iOS it should work. Hopefully.
Thank you for clarifying and for trying once again. We were attempting to collect logs remotely during this last reinstall/reproduce effort but, unfortunately, the iOS instance didn’t respond to our server requests.
We’re going to need to ask for your assistance in gathering manual Roon logs from the affected iPad.
At your convenience, please follow the steps under the iOS section in this article:
And then use this uploader to securely share the logs with our team.
If you’re not able to gather logs or they don’t save to the tablet, let us know. Thanks again for your patience and assistance.
Thanks for sending those over, and for your continued patience.
Unfortunately the three files that came through are iOS system analytics (Apple’s own telemetry, heartbeat pings, a lock-screen gesture, an iCloud identity check), not Roon’s crash logs. On iOS these live in the same Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Analytics Data list, so they’re easy to grab by mistake.
What we need are the entries generated by Roon itself when it crashes on launch. In that same Analytics Data list:
Scroll to entries whose name starts with the app name (e.g. Roon-2026-07-...), rather than ones labeled Analytics-....
Match the date/time to a moment you just tried to open Roon and it crashed, so it may help to launch Roon, watch it crash, then go straight into that list and look for the newest matching item.
Tap it, then use the Share icon (top right) to send it via the uploader.
If you don't see any Roon-named entries at all, let us know, that itself is a useful clue.
If you could also access the link @connor provided above to send over a set of Roon mobile iOS logs as well, that would be most helpful.
In parallel, the most likely culprit is still the build/OS mismatch we flagged: the iPad mini 3 is capped at iOS 12.5.8, and the App Store may be serving it an older Roon build (1646) that can’t pair cleanly with your current Roon Server. So even with logs, a version-compatibility fix may be where this lands. The crash reports will help us confirm that.
That last file did the trick, RoonMobile-2026-07-21-220525.ips is exactly the kind of Roon crash report we were after, and it tells us what’s going on. Thank you for your persistence in getting it to us.
We’ve shared the files with our development team who will inspect further. If you’re also able to send over a set of Roon mobile logs, that would also be helpful. @connor shared the link above.
If it helps the process, I have an old iPad Mini 2, normally just used as a “Roon Display” running the URL in a browser in Guided Access mode.
This iPad runs iPadOS 12.5.8 but I had to go back to B1663 Early Access to get it to run Roon Remote.
All other builds after this, so B1668 onwards, did not open and crashed on launch.
Same for the current Production version.
If you want to fix the iOS/iPadOS version for older versions I believe that is possible in the App Store, as I have seen that on this and an iPad Pro 9.7 (backup iPad), running iPadOS 16.7.18
