Describe the issue

I downloaded your app last week and have been unable to get it to "see" my Heos speakers, I am currently using a Denon AVR X6300H to play my wireless HEOS speakers (13 speakers) with the latest firmware. What am I missing?

Describe your network setup

The Roon app is loaded on my Mac Studio M4 computer. My router is an Orbi 770.

The app on its own will do nothing.
Do you actually have Roon Server up and running on the Mac?
Not just the control portion.

Thank you for the response.

I did purchase and install the “Roon Server” on my new Mac Studio M4. I am in the 10th day of the free trail period. I am able to see and play my Air Pod Mini speakers, but I am not able to see or play the 13 Denon Heos speakers I have in my home.

I’m going to move this to support.
I’m not sure if Roon should be able to see Heos speakers or not as I have no experience or knowledge of them

Hi @missing_vials.5t,

Just to clarify — are you expecting Roon to show each of your 13 HEOS speakers individually? The reason I ask is that HEOS devices are not Roon Ready, so they typically won’t appear as separate endpoints in Roon the same way AirPlay or Roon Ready devices do.

Also, can you confirm if Roon detects your Denon AVR X6300H at all?

Can you let us know what your goal is with controlling them through Roon? This will help us suggest the best possible setup.

Yes, Roon detects my Denon X6300H receiver, and I have enabled the receiver in Roon.

I thought that Roon was an alternative to using the Heos app for managing my streaming music and controlling my Heos speakers, was I wrong?

Hey @missing_vials.5t,

Thanks for the update!

Your Denon AVR-X6300H shows up in Roon because it’s Roon Ready over AirPlay or Roon Tested via network/HDMI input, depending on how it’s connected.

That part works - Roon can stream to your AVR and control playback there.

However, the HEOS wireless speakers themselves do not appear in Roon, because:

  • HEOS uses its own proprietary streaming system (not RAAT, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, or DLNA) and isn’t yet integrated with Roon.
  • Roon can only stream to devices using RAAT, AirPlay, Chromecast, Sonos, or Roon Bridge.

You do have a few options depending on how you want to use your HEOS system, though:

Option 1: Use the AVR as your Roon endpoint

  • Keep your Denon X6300H enabled in Roon.
  • Play music to that receiver.
  • You’ll hear the audio on any speakers wired to the receiver (but not the wireless HEOS speakers).
  • This is the simplest and most stable option.

Option 2: Bridge Roon and HEOS indirectly

If you want Roon to feed your HEOS zones:
  • Use AirPlay (if your HEOS speakers support it — many HEOS models do).
    • Each AirPlay-compatible HEOS speaker will appear in Roon under Settings → Audio → AirPlay.
    • You can enable them there individually.
    • Downsides: limited to 16-bit/44.1 kHz and not fully synchronized between zones.
  • Or, you could try to use a HEOS input (like optical or analog) on your AVR or one HEOS speaker connected to a Roon endpoint — but you’ll still need the HEOS app to distribute that input to the rest of the HEOS network.

Let me know if the above helps and makes sense, thank you! 🙏

Yes, your response makes sense. Thank you for the thorough explanation and for providing detailed guidance regarding my options.
