· Due to a stroke I have difficulties typing and using the keyboard. This leads to many errors. For your information I am 80 years old. Roon runs every day. It is normally switched back to life every morning.
Today (11.04.26) Roon didn’t react. It started as usual but stayed stuck. The restart of MacStudio didn’t help, Neither disconnecting VPN didn’t help. Finally I reloaded the roon app. It didn’t help.

· I have a Proton VPN, the router is delivered by Quickline the internet provider, I use ethernet that employs two Fritz!Box 4040 switches routing internet, WLAN, LAN. I use Apple Cloud and next to my MacStudio (Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)) Roon Remote runs on two iPads which are connected to the cloud. The MacStudio hosts the Roon Server.
I am so sorry to hear about your health challenges, but I truly admire your determination to get your music back. We will keep this as simple as possible to save you from unnecessary typing.
Looking at your Mac’s internal logs, I see that your Mac Studio is currently trying to use both Wi-Fi and Ethernet at the same time. This may causing Roon to get “confused” about which path to take to find your music, resulting in that stuck startup screen.
Please try these three simple steps:
Turn off Wi-Fi: Click the Wi-Fi icon in the top-right corner of your Mac screen and turn it OFF. This forces the Mac to use only your stable Ethernet cable.
Quit Roon Server: Click the small Roon icon in the top menu bar (near the clock) and select “Quit Roon Server.”
Restart Roon: Open the Roon app again from your dock or Applications folder.
If that doesn’t work:
If it is still stuck, the most effective “reset” is to simply download a fresh copy of the app:
Since you’re running macOS, the behavior you’re seeing is consistent with the newer, stricter Local Network permission controls in the recent macOS releases.
Please try the following steps:
Open macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network
Make sure Roon and Roon Server are both enabled
Even if they are already enabled, please toggle them off and back on
Fully quit Roon Server from the macOS menu bar / task bar
Reboot your Mac
After reboot, launch Roon again and check if the devices is avaliable again.
Once these permissions are refreshed and the system restarted, your audio devices should reappear.
Please let us know if the issue persists after these steps, and we’ll continue from there.
