Describe the issue

Hello,
Since updating to Roon ARC 1.67 on my iPhone 11 Pro Max, Roon ARC needs 20 seconds to show the Recent Activity and currently playing song. Albums opened during this time are also not showing any songs and can‘t be started to be played. I‘ve already reinstalled the app, this unfortunately didn‘t fix the issue.
Thank you for your help

Hi @destaris,

Thank you for the report.

Just to confirm a few of the symptoms you’re seeing in the app in our escalation to development:

Do the albums that have zero tracks listed include: 1) streaming 2) local and 3) content locally downloaded to the phone in ARC?

When you experience this slow loading time, are you restoring the app from background, or opening it for the first time?

If it’s easier to share a video or screen recording from the phone, you can upload it securely to our team here.

We’ll watch for your response and take a closer look at diagnostics and telemetry for your ARC account instance in the meantime. Thank you!

Hi,
All albums are affected, streamed, locally stored and downloaded.
The slowdown occurs after a downtime or when opening it after manually ending the app. It doesn‘t occur while actively listening to music.
I‘ve also uploaded a video showing the opening of the app and navigatibg to an „empty“ downloaded album.
Best wishes and thank you for your help!

Hi @destaris,

Thanks for getting back to us with that information. I’ve added it to the ticket we have open with our developers. We’ll keep you updated here as soon as we hear back from them.

Hi @destaris,

Development has request that you securely upload a copy of your Roon database here for them to reproduce the issue internally in the same environment.

At your convenience, please use the directions found here to locate the RoonServer folder housing your Roon database. Zip (compress) the entire RoonServer folder and upload that at the link provided at the top of this post. Thanks!

Hi,
I’ve uploaded a compressed version of the RoonServer-Folder to the linked drive.

Hi @destaris,
Thanks for uploading your database for us. I’ve attached it to our ticket with the developers. Once they provide an update on their investigation, we’ll follow up with you here.

Hi @destaris,

We wanted to reopen this thread as we’d left it unresolved before it auto-closed.

Development prepared some fixes in the last ARC release that should have helped improve performance and relieved some of the symptoms you reported here.

How have things been performing on your iPhone since we last checked in on this thread?

Thank you again for your enduring patience.

Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me. As of today I’m using RoonARC 1.69(369) and there is unfortunately still a 20 second delay between freshly starting Roon ARC and being able to enter the player or songs in albums loading.
Just to maybe give more information, this happens both on WiFi and Mobile Data and impacts both streaming albums and albums which are locally stored on my ROCK and downloaded in ARC. During those 20 seconds, I can enter albums on my home page (Recent activity, Listen later etc.) but the albums will appear as having no songs, even downloaded ones and can’t be played. Search also doesn’t show any results in that timespan.

Best wishes

Thanks for the update @destaris. We’ve shared your notes with development and will sync back shortly.

Hi @destaris,

Two follow-ups for you here:

  1. when you fall into this state - could you please snap a screenshot of your Roon Arc settings page to review Arcs storage/cloud connectivity status.
  2. Share a more specific date and time and if applicable, name of track playing when you fall into this state.
  3. Test to see if you run into this issue over stable wifi

We’ll be monitoring for your reply and results, thank you! :folded_hands:

Hi,
no problem:

  1. Every time I open the app after not using it for more than around 15 minutes, but for example Oct. 16, 10:24 AM.
  2. Happens both over wifi and mobile data.

Best wishes

Good day @destaris !

Thanks for confirming the details!

We have passed them to R&D and will keep you posted on the progress.

Have a nice day!

Regards.

Hi @destaris,

I sincerely apologize for the delay and truly appreciate your patience - progress on this issue has taken longer than we anticipated.

Our development team is still actively investigating and committed to finding a solution that improves things for you. While we don’t have any new updates or next steps at this time (and no additional info is needed from your end), we’ll temporarily close this thread for now.

As soon as we have an update, we’ll reach out right away. Thank you again for your understanding and for bearing with us. :folded_hands:
