Hello,
I wasn’t sure if this post was right here, if not please move it if necessary.
The following problem I have with Roon Arc is that it plays 2-3 tracks or simply stops playing in the middle.
This continues until I unlock the smartphone and press the play button again.
It doesn’t matter whether I’m at home with wifi or mobile data is active.
If I unlock the smartphone before I start playing, I can also see that the controls are no longer in the foreground and I always have to unlock the smartphone again and then press play and then it starts all over again.
I have also googled it and it seems that many people have this problem but there is no concrete solution.
My current smartphone is a Samsung S10+ and I’ve already gone through all the settings and I can’t find anything to fix it.
It seems to me that every 10 minutes the smartphone just goes into a kind of standby and everything stops.
Power options are set correctly, permissions are active where needed but nothing is getting better.
The only thing that works is if I press a button after 2 tracks it keeps playing, like a kind of rest so to speak.
Then it plays through 2-3 tracks again.
Does anyone have any advice on what else could be adjusted if necessary?
The last update on the smartphone is from March 23 since then.
Hi @Deleeh,
Thank you for reaching out to us about this issue. I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.
However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.
First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.
Hello Daniel,
Yes, I can theoretically do that.
But the rule of thumb is usually 2-3 songs after I start Arc, depending on how long they are, roughly every 10 minutes on average.
Then the playback simply pauses and nothing more happens.
Until I unlock the smartphone again and am on the Arc screen and only have to press play then it runs again for 10 minutes.
Funnily enough, today it ran for 40 minutes until it stopped and then after about 20 minutes it stopped again. sometimes it is random where it runs longer, but usually every 10 minutes.
Have a look today around 7pm.
I suspect it has to do with the screen timout or something, or something that needs a tick, an okay, or approval.
I’ll run Roon Arc again soon and then we can see when it stopped.
Hope this helps, thanks for your help and support.
@daniel
Yesterday I tried it again for the whole day so the 30.12.24.
The smartphone played once 30-40 min the first time, then switched off every 10 min on average.
Later I set up a hotspot to the Ipad and it ran for a good while.
I will try the latter again.
Thanks for the additional information! We unfortunately aren’t seeing any Arc activity tied to your account recently, how are things performing?
Is the phone always locked and nonactive when the pauses occur? If you set the phone to stay open and not locked, are you able to reproduce the pauses?
With that, what type of content are you typically playing when the pauses occur? Local content, downloaded content, or streaming content?
It may be worth removing Arc and performing a fresh install over stable wifi to see if the issues persist.
How is your Roon Server connected to your network/router?
Hello Benjamin,
Thank you for your feedback and reply.
I’ll try a new installation of Roon Arc.
I haven’t looked into it any further at the moment to solve the problem, last I checked it paused whenever the lock screen itself went into sleep mode or was activated by myself.
And after 10 min it stopped playing after 2-3 songs.
Everything is reproducible by opening and playing Roon Arc and letting it do its thing.
The content I listen to is my playlist that I have created via Tidal, which I select and play in shuffle mode, which is all streaming content.
If I could download the playlist and play it offline like I do with the Tidal app on my iPad, for example, that would of course be great too.
Hello @benjamin,
I did a new installation and it seemed to have solved all the problems.
It ran for 2 hours without any problems and on the way to and from work too.
Many thanks for your help.
Is there a reason why it caused such problems during the first installation?
I can’t really understand it.
Cheers
Hi @Deleeh,
We’re glad ARC is working for you now. It’s difficult to know why exactly this happened. There are a few possible explanations including something going wrong during the original installation process.
Okay, thank you very much.
I tried again today on the way to work.
Once this morning it couldn’t connect for a few minutes and said bad connection.
On the way back to work it stopped playing Arc after about 30 mins.
Can you check what was going on?
I’ll try again tomorrow to see if it was just a one-off or if it will be permanent again.
