Describe the issue

RoonArc App on iOs is not obeying the Ban Album tag.
I used the Ban Album to hide albums between profiles.
This works so far, so good on the roon Apps on macOs.
But in roonArc i can the the banned Albums under recently added , i can see that they are banned by the little icon , but they are visible.
This makes the profiles close to useless.
Is this maybe just a bug, could this be fixed?

Describe your network setup

i don't think that matters here

Hi @Tino_Nettling,

This is expected behavior - the global ban feature won’t render tracks invisible in certain browsers, including Recently Added or Discography.

Valence and Roon Radio will still obey the ban; the inclusion of the banned album in the browser list is simply to distinguish that the item remains in your library.

If this implementation doesn’t fit your use case, please share your thoughts in Feature Suggestions where other users will vote. This will help quantify the request for our Product team’s consideration. Thanks!

i do not understand your answer. If the roonApp follows the banned albums view per profile, why doesn’t do it on roonArc?

However i added a feature request for this.

As described on the help page that was linked, banning doesn’t make items invisible (at least not in the same profile*) and it doesn’t prevent you from explicitly playing a banned item. It just prevents Roon from playing it automatically.

E.g., if you ban a track from an album, Roon won’t play the track if you play the album. However, you can still choose to play the track explicitly.

The track will also not be played by Roon Radio or other automatic playing like shuffling all tracks by an artist.

* I just tested and it also doesn’t hide it in another profile in the Roon app. Which makes sense to me because if I ban an album, my wife or my house guests are still allowed to like it.

i tested it just again. If i ban an album it does hide it in the other profile from the recently added menu. Wich is a very easy way to access albums (since the albums view cannot be filtered by favourites in roonArc carplay and the speech assistent isn’t able to understand many artists names or albums)

Not for me, I have now tried it on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

tested on roon apps on iOs and Mac

I see now that banning hides it in Recently Added of the same profile that did the hiding, but only if I refresh Home by leaving it and going back through the side bar. (But that’s the only place it’s hidden). (It still shows in Recently Added of another profile.)

So I am not sure this is entirely true:

:man_shrugging:

I should add that I’m on Early Access.

well exactly that is the point. This way i can seperate the two recently added areas. Thats what i want. If this only would work on roonArc.

Actually i’d be even more happy if there’s a dedicated way of way of sorting music for profiles.
Banning seem more like a workaround.

But it seems the opposite of what I get.

i don’t know why this is different for you than for me. My library uses local music and Qobuz. It works for both.
It worked on the most recent production release as well as on the current Early Access version.

I agree that it’s strange that it’s different

Hi @Tino_Nettling and @Suedkiez,

Thanks for sharing your additional reports and comparison - we’ll take this thread to our Arc developers for further discussion and analysis. We should have some next steps and additional information to share by the end of the week. :+1:

Hi @Tino_Nettling,

We have a developer ticket to inpsect ban treatment when switching profiles in ARC. We haven’t identified the exact mechanism here, but there’s ongoing work to correct any discrepancies. Thanks for your report.
