Describe the issue

after upgrading to iOS 18, I'm getting error "time for an update. Roon Server cannot connect with this version of ARC. Roon Server says its the latest version and the version on the iPhone is the latest version according to the app store

Describe your network setup

Roon Server wired connection 1G internal network, iPhone uses 5g or wifi, having problem either way

@maximasr, what version of Roon Server are you using (the build number), and what verion of ARC are you using on your iPhone?

hi there,
iOS 18 installed today.
Roon ARC 1.0(300)
I just tried this on my m1 iPad and get the same error msg.

Roon Server 2.0 build 1462 production
states: you have the latest version installed

Hi @maximasr,

First close ARC, then reboot RoonServer and re-open the app.

Try uninstalling/reinstalling the app - keep in mind, however, this will require you to re-download any downloaded files to ARC.

If you continue to experience the issue afterward, please let us know here.

I encountered the exact same issue on Android 14. I’m running Roon 2.0 (build 1460) early access.

Rebooting Roon and restarting ARC resolved it for me.

After updating Roon to the latest version today V2 build 1462, I open ARC and get the following message on my phone : -

Time for an update.
Roon Server cannot connect with this version of ARC. Please update your Roon Server to reconnect. I have an iphone running v18 and ARC has updated itself to the latest version.

Your thoughts please.

Mike

Moved to Support.

In the past, this was usually caused by running the Beta version of ARC together with a Roon Server that is running the production version. (On iOS, the ARC Beta would be installed through Apple’s TestFlight app, meaning that this is usually easy to see. It’s more easily overlooked on Android). Maybe it can also happen if the versions are the other way around, Roon Server running the Early Access version (which is apparent in Roon Settings > About) and the regular production version of ARC.

So it’s best to check this to rule it out.

However, there are currently at least two other cases of this in other threads, and in one of them the version were checked and looked OK as far as I could tell. So maybe there is an issue.

Maybe this helps:

Hi @Mike_Durham,

Please try closing Roon ARC and rebooting RoonServer before re-opening the app.

If that doesn’t help, then try reinstalling ARC.

We’ll keep an eye out for your response. Thanks!

Rebooting Roon server didn’t fix it. Deleting the Roon arc app off the iPhone and reinstalling it fixed the problem.
Thanks

I did the same and now ok

Thanks for your help gents

Mike

Great! We’re glad ARC is working again for both of you.

Hi @Mike_Durham, @maximasr,

We wanted to reach back out on behalf of Development to ask if you’d seen any new examples of this problem since this thread closed. Has ARC functioned smoothly for you in the meantime?

Connor
thanks for asking. Everything is working the best it has been. For example, if I would start radio or shuffle, I would get the same tracks every time. Now, they are randomized and none of the picks are from the tracks you picked before. I’ll try in another day or 2 to start radio and see if the tracks are different than what I see today.
thanks

Conner.

Thanks for asking, as far as I’m concerned everything is working as it should do.

No problems now.

Thanks
