One minor clarification that might or not help with diagnosing the problem - in earlier versions of ARC for Android, the USB driver was surprisingly (to me) reliable, given that it has been a beta feature all along, but it was not 100% stable in my experience. The latest version has made the USB driver issues more acute, but there were issues before, so it occurs to me that the underlying issues have been there all along, and the change is that they are now handled less gracefully. Specifically, on the previous version, I did notice from time to time that the ARC UI showed that playback had switched from lossless to high quality, though with no audible disruption. At least with the Mojo 2, I believe playback still works through USB with or without the USB driver functioning properly - but in this mode, the external DAC is reduced to a physical interface converter, because the Android has taken over digital->analog conversion, subject to the Android OS limitations.
For me, I have two USB to headphone adapters and neither work with ARC and my phone, including the standard one from Samsung. The Samsung one sounds distorted and garbled and the other one causes ARC to stop functioning.
It is working for me on the newest update.

Two DACS fail for me since the latest update with my Pixel 7 pro
Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, the fix we pushed for this problem with this weekās Roon and ARC release was not nearly as comprehensive as expected. Many of you may still experience crashing in ARC when connecting to or playing back through USB DACs on Android devices.
We can likely quarantine this issue by temporarily deactivating the MUSE component of ARC for your accounts from the backend, until we have a more effective fix pushed for the underlying problem. If you donāt use DSP heavily in your listening routine and would like to volunteer for us to disable MUSE, please let us know. We recognize this is a key feature failing and development is working hard to make this right.
Connor I am happy to test this, I do not need ARC for the next several days, so I have disabled MUSE on my FIIO KA2 device and if you need to do anything on your end let me know and I will let you know how I get on.
@connor please disable MUSE for my account.
Got an eta on disabling MUSE for us volunteers?
@connor this is also my problem with the same configuration Pixel 7 Pro and FIIO KA1 USB DAC.
@connor Iām very eager to have you disable MUSE for my account from the backend, which you wrote nine days ago might be possible until thereās a fix for the USB driver issue in ARC. Is this workaround still in the works?
Could we at least get a response on when Muse will be (voluntarily) disabled for our accounts, please? I would really like to get lossless audio back via ARC! Thank you.
Couldnāt agree more. Itās a testament to how much I was enjoying using ARC (and not longing at all for the MUSE functionality) for lossless playback via USB that the current state of this issue bothers me as much as it does.
I value MUSE over lossless playback and the arc USB driver was the only thing besides UAPP that me properly control the volume on my 3.5mm DAC dongles. Eagerly awaiting an update on the situation.
Yeah agreed. I never wanted it and still wonāt use it if/when itās fixed in ARC. I would completely support a feature allowing us to toggle Muse on/off. I would keep it off 100% of the time but I am sure plenty of others would use it. This makes it a win/win for everybody.
For the benefit of others besides me who thought more useful information would be forthcoming here, I just realized some useful information about a workaround has been shared by @connor in another thread.
Refer to this post for more information (so far, this fix is working for me): Periodic Disconnect from USB DACs in ARC - #40 by connor
Figured I would give it a shot but no go on a Samsung S21U and iBasso DAC ![]()
Same, no change in behavior. ARC still hangs indefinitely as soon as the DAC is connected and has to be manually killed.
The Android dev mode workaround did the trick for me (Pixel 7, Android 13, Chord Mojo2). So sorry to hear that it isnāt helping others following this topic.
New build 209 still doesnāt solve the crashing of AK-HC2 USB DAC⦠It has been more than a month since MUSE was baked into ARC. This DAC works perfectly before.
