Description of Issue

Let start at the beginning:

  1. Installed Roon server on my Windows PC for the trial.Library is running on a NAS. Installed Roon and RoonARC on my iPhone - library on a NAS with only local files. Using RoonARC did not have any issues. I could download music to the phone using wifi and play it when in the car or at work. When not at home I could stream files using ARC

  2. Decided to use a spare NUC for the server. Installed Roon Core kit and connected it to the same library and activated the trial for Qobuz. I reset RoonARC and connected it to this new install. From this moment on I cannot download music to the iPhone with the message “Download could not be initiated” I can however stream them both when at home using wifi or in the car using mobile data.

I tried the following to rule out some items:

  • Disabled and removed Qobuz
  • Moved music files to the local disk on the NUC
  • Removed RoonARC from the phone and reinstalled it
  • Reinstalled the NUC
  • Used other network settings on the NUC

Nothing fixed the issue - I still cannot download music files.

I believe this is due to the Apple App Store delaying the release of build 170. All iOS owners are in the same predicament.

You need to wait for ARC build 170 to come through the App Store on the phone, most likely. (Or check there, maybe it’s already listed and you can trigger the update).

ARC 170 was released together with Roon build 1244 and a version mismatch can cause this, but Apple may have been slow to push the update

App needs to work no matter what version you’re using going forward. Features can’t break everytime you push another update.

These issues happen too often. You could try resetting the ARC app but you will lose all your existing downloads, if any

I finaly could download the Roon Arc update today. That solved my issue - I can again download music locally.

Good advice. Resetting sorted it out - downloading music now!
