Roon ARC connectivity error with 502 status code (ref#YMI21O)

Network Setup

· I use my ISP's router alongside a personal router.

ARC Status

· ARC is *Not Ready*

Roon Error Code

· The ARC settings page says "Not Ready," but I can still connect to ARC via cellular data. I'm having another problem.

Describe the issue

Suddenly I have issues with the roon arc. Did not change any settings.
Following error appears:
{
"ipv4_connectivity": {"status":"NetworkError","status_code":502,"error":"error: Error: connect ECONNREFUSED 60.aaa.bbb.ccc:55002, response code: undefined, body: undefined"},
"external_ip": {"actual_external_ip":"60.aaa.bbb.ccc","actual_external_ipv6":"null","router_external_ip":"null"},
"natpmp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"},
"upnp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"}
}

Describe your network setup

-softbank
-isp provided modem, roon nucleus+
-lan cable

If the ISP router isn’t set to bridge mode, you’ll have two LANs, which means Roon ARC can’t be accessed outside the home without manual intervention.

This is how things appear.

Internet → ISP router ← LAN #1 → Personal Router ← LAN #2 → Roon Server

You need to do the following:

  • Forward port 55000 on the ISP router to the IP address of the personal router. For example, if the ISP router’s IP address is 192.168.0.1, then the personal router’s IP address (seen from the ISP router will be something like 192.168.0.n.

  • Forward port 55000 on the personal router to the IP address of your Roon server. For example, if the router’s IP address is 192.168.1.1, then Roon server will have an address like 192.168.1.n.

If you don’t know how to make these changes, please provide details of both router, and share a screenshot of Roon > Settings > Roon ARC.

Hi @Alex_Nakayama,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. @mjw’s advice should help you with your ARC connectivity issues. Please let us know if you get it working.

Hi mjw,

Thank you for the information.

I have re-checked connection and it seems it is connected this way:

Internet > ISP router > Roon Nucleus

I still cannot figure out how to correct this and would appreciate your further input.

ISP router setting is Japanese only and I hope it makes sense here, there are no port is forwarded right now.

Thanks so much,

Alex

I note that the router IP address is 172.16.255.254 and Roon server 192.168.3.28. Therefore, you do have two subnets.

Please list all network devices, including make and model, and how these are connected. Likewise, how is Roon server connected to the network?

Hey @Alex_Nakayama,

@mjw is steering you in the right direction with their comment above - Roon is only able to function across a single local subnet. We’ll be on standby for your reply! :+1:

I did leave out something:

Internet > ISP router > Ediscreation Fiberbox2 > Ediscreation Silent Switch OCXO > Roon Nuclueus+

I have re-booted both Ediscreation units, and now shows Roon ARC as ready in the Roon Setup, however I still cannot find Roon Server when I start the Roon ARC…

I am going to fiddle around a bit more this weekend, I have not changed any set up at all for over a year and things were working fine just until few days ago, so this is puzzling…

Thank you for your help, I will post update again.

Hey @Alex_Nakayama,

Thanks for the additional information! Are you also able to check the Ediscreation units for possible updates as well?

Our team isn’t around on the weekends, but we’ll check back Monday for any updates. :+1:

Solved, after I deleted the roon ARC and reinstalled.

Thank you for your help!
