Roon ARC displays 'Connection weak' and offline function not working (ref#79YOQR)

Permanent display is: “Connection weak”, even with a 5G data rate of 300 MB/s under the radio mast and with the setting “automatically adjust to data rate” it does not work. This means that Roon is not suitable for people who travel a lot. No matter how good the Roon server and the 1A connection via VPN Tailscale or tunnelling via a static IP is of any use. And without remotely restarting the Roon server (in my case a Mac Mini M2 Pro) every few days while travelling, nothing works either.
The offline function doesn’t work either. According to the display in Roon Arc, 165 GB are occupied, but it doesn’t play any of them? Does it show the tracks and albums but not available in offline mode? However, the storage info on the iPhone only shows 880 MB of data for Roon Arc? What a pity Roon.

Hi @hifi_freak_jason,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. I’ve seen other customers with this problem who solved it by reinstalling ARC or resetting the settings in ARC. Please try that and let us know the results.

I will combine this with you other thread on this topic in order to keep everything together. Please refrain from double posting issues. It makes it harder to help you in an efficient manner.

Hello Daniel,

reinstalling ARC on my iPhone 14 Pro Max has done nothing. Outside of my own network, mobile and on other networks, only “poor connection” has been displayed since around 30 August, even with very high bandwidths. Before that, it only didn’t work with low bandwidth.

I have connected all devices with Tailscale in the same VPN IP subnet. I installed the Roon server on a new Mac Mini M2 Pro at the beginning of August and haven’t touched it since. This runs perfectly. My library contains 11,000 albums, 78,000 songs and 6,000 artists.

I always keep the Mac OS, IOS, Tailscale and Roon software up to date.

Instead of connecting via VPN, I could also set up another tunnel, which I have deactivated for security reasons since the solution with Tailscale was introduced.

And as I said, it worked until the end of August, even under the Mac and IOS beta versions.

What should I do?

Thanks for Your response.

Greetings Jens.

Found an error. I deactivated Tailscale on the Mac Mini and then activated it again. Since then it’s been working again. So it obviously wasn’t ARC’s fault! So I have to make sure I have remote access to the Mac and thus to the Roon server and the VPN connection from there.
