The end of the Roon ARC audio chain is Android Auto, not the Kenwood hi res car audio amp. Not reproducing bit perfect like USB Audio Pro or Muzecast. When will this issue be resolved. It does reproduce bit perfect music with Dragonfly Black USB DAC when connected, but not my car audio amp. Android Auto will reproduce bit perfect output now, but only with USB Audio Pro or Muzecast for me.
Can we be honest here, are you really going to hear the difference in a car, hardly the best listening room to start with to even resolve cd quality fully. Any benefits of hires if there really are any will be lost to the environment and background noise.
I think you are making assumptions about how I consume music in a given environment. Bottom line is ARC is bit perfect with an external DAC sometimes, however BETA seems to be a work in progress since I played hi res with Dragonfly Black the other day and the path started off showing a Lossy MP3 file.
I think you might be surprised at how quiet some new cars are inside now (eg EV), on quiet tyres… with special windows for less wind noise.
My car with DSP inside might measure better (neutral) than most peoples hifi.
Minimal standing waves to affect subwoofer bass, compared with typical hifi room.
Some cars now even have active noise cancelling inside, to further reduce road and environment noise.
ANC is typically done via DSP using the car’s audio system, introducing artifacts that far outweigh any benefits of bit perfect playback.
Bit perfect doesn’t interest me at home - I use advanced digital room correction (Acourate and Audiolense XO) with HQPlayer which manages my DSP crossovers and room correction.
So it doesn’t interest me in the car either, for the same reasons ![]()
But it does for the OP.
Understood but you replied to my post about ANC, so I was replying to you about my use.
For me it is a nice to have bit perfect and I go above and beyond to make sure if feed HQPlayer input with bit perfect signal at home , but in the car the effect of good EQ/DSP for outweighs the need for bit perfect - it is literally fixing performance issues and can make real night and day differences. Measurable.
