When opening Roon Arc an error page is displayed: There's an issue with your Roon Server. Your Roon Server is online but there's an issue that's preventing access.
However this is not a networking issue. It used to work and nothing was changed in this regards. Port 8080 is NAT forwaded from my public IPv4 to the Roon Server. In addition to the private IPv4 for which there is a NAT forwarding, the Roon host has a public IPv6 adress and port 8080 is allowed for that as well.
I have verified with Curl that I can reach the Roon Server on port 8080 from internally as well as from the public Internet via IPv4 as well as IPv6.
Curl connects to roon and I am seeing the self signed certificate.
And no I don't want to disconnect and reconnect Roon ARC because I have downloaded 20 GB of music. A process that takes hours or days.
This is why Roon ARC is still not there yet. I can't rely on it. If I have downloaded my music in Plexamp I can be sure that I can access it while on the road. With or without network. With Roon ARC it is always a gamble.
Thank you for your post. Have you recently either a) migrated your RoonServer between machines or b) restored a Backup?
Diagnostics from ARC indicate that the session has become unauthorized - it’s attempting to use keypairs that are associated with an old, previous RoonServer instance.
Thank you very much for investigating my problem and apologies for venting a bit.
No I did not restore from a backup. The only thing out of the ordinary was an internet outage last week. I restarted the Roon machine twice since that.
This could be the reason that we are seeing your ARC session as unauthorized. Try disconnecting and then reconnecting to your Roon server from the ARC settings.
The same thing just happened to me. I have not recently either a) migrated my RoonServer between machines or b) restored a Backup. In fact, other then installing the various updates when prompted to, I havent done anything other than listen to music and load a few new albums into my library.
I have now disconnected and reconnected and when I was asked to select ‘who is listening’ I got the same error message.
It says to go to the Roon app for more information but I dont see anything unusual there.
I also needed to reconnect the Roon Arc App thereby loosing all downloads. Although that solved the issue, it is still a bug that needs to be addressed.
Roon Arc is not reliable enough to be used for real offline scenarios. When I am doing a road trip on vacation I cannot accept to loose all my downloads. Will continue to use Plexamp.
We’ve escalated this ongoing concern to the product team. ARC needs to reach the cloud at least every fourteen days to authenticate sessions. If authentication refresh hasn’t succeeded for fourteen days, ARC can’t be fully accessed. After this time, ARC will need to have a connection to the cloud to reauthorize, and it may require a connection to RoonServer via port forwarding if RoonServer has been updated or turned off in the background.
It is not expected to lose downloads or need to fully log back in and resync when your account loses authentication.
The team is aware of the vulnerabilities behind what you experienced and will be shipping improvements incrementally.
Thank you for your report and sharing all the additional information.
