Welcome back to the forum. Can you please let us know the exact local time + date of the next issue(s) and what issue type you noticed (e.g. at 1:11PM on 3/4/25 I noticed a freeze on the queue screen). Let us know a few relevant timestamps like that and we can look over your ARC logging for clues, thanks!
I don’t have timestamps. Just look at my logs. it is basically every time i have tried to use it over the last week or so. Just this morning it got stuck trying to load songs at around 9 am central.
The only thing that is consistent is that i get some sort of error. i switched to the beta on google play but that doesn’t seemed to have helped.
Switching to the Early Access branch involves moving your RoonServer machine and ARC at the same time. There’s nothing in Early Access at this time that directly affects the ARC framework on Android, so it’s likely easiest to stay on the Production track during troubleshooting.
This ARC instance isn’t retaining any session logs, either because the OS isn’t allowing them to be retained locally or because the ARC framework never gets into a state where it can process logging. We’d like you to fully uninstall ARC and instead try the APK on this phone - please let us know if this changes any of the symptoms.
Hi @AgDev01,
Were you only experiencing these symptoms with Android Auto? If so what are the make and model of the head unit you are using? If it’s the stock head unit that came with the car please let us know the make and model of the car.
Thanks for the clarification @AgDev01. Since you listed multiple symptoms with unrelated causes, we need to ask you to clarify which occur with just the phone, and which occur with the head unit.
Among the issues above - black screen, freezing, poor connection (I assume this refers to the popup banner?) and endless buffering - which occur only with Android Auto?
Is the black screen/freezing issue something you see in the head unit UI or on your phone? Have you encountered this freezing on the phone without the head unit connected at all?
The buffering issue has happened on both just the phone and with Android Auto.
The black screen and freezes are exclusive to android auto. The poor connection message started when android auto was running but happened on the phone when i tried playing a song after exiting the car.
The apk that was linked doesn’t show up in android auto at all.
Thank you @AgDev01, we’ll follow up with more information shortly. Development has improvements in the pipeline that will likely improve the connectivity problem, particularly if you have a strong connection on the phone when this is occurring.
Forgive the confusion earlier - ARC’s APK won’t include the Play Store wrapper required to launch in this head unit. You’ll have to enable APK access for head units in Developer Mode or go back to the Play Store version.
Out of curiosity, do you connect via USB or Bluetooth to this head unit? Does it matter which one you use? We’re reproducing this problem in-house and will respond as soon as possible.
Thanks for the update - sorry to hear you’re still having issues.
This is actually a result of the car’s limitation within the Android Auto interface rather than Arc itself. There isn’t much we’re able to adjust in this area, unfortunately.
Are you able to test out using a wired connection?
Re-downlading your files is definitely tedious, we have a ticket in to try and improve this behavior as well. In the meantime, I’ve found it quite useful to add all my Arc downloads to it’s own playlist - and then when I have to re-download in Arc (which is quite often for testing) I can just hit the download button to a single playlist. It’s certainly not a solution, but it’s a nice workaround for the time being.
At this point, I’d move back to the production version of Arc - our team is still working on improvements that should help your case. We’ll be in touch when there is additional information to share.
I think I have a solution for this. I was also getting the spinning circle on Android Auto about 50% of the time. I went to settings in the app on the phone and toggled Offline Mode on and off and then it worked fine once it reconnected to the server. Hope this helps someone else!
I have problems with Roon ARC on my Samsung A9+ tablet. Logo just hanging on the screen, and nothing happens. Works fine on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra phone.
Software version on Tablet is One-UI-version 6.1, Android version 14, actual version X2100XXS6CYB2 /X210OZS6CYB2, SECURITY LEVEL 1 FEBRUARY 2025
