System or third-party *firewalls *or *antivirus software* can sometimes block RoonServer from reaching ARC.
· Try adding RoonServer and its associated processes to the whitelist of any firewalls or antivirus software you have installed, including the Windows system firewall, if applicable. Has the status in Roon -> Settings -> ARC changed after adding exceptions in your firewalls and antivirus software for Roon? ARC is still *Not Ready*

Describe the issue
Hi, I think I have tried all the recommended actions multiple times with no result. The message is 'not ready' with this diagnostic data { "ipv4_connectivity": {"status":"NetworkError","status_code":504,"error":"error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined"}, "external_ip": {"actual_external_ip":"92.aaa.bbb.ccc","actual_external_ipv6":"null","router_external_ip":"null"}, "natpmp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"}, "upnp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"} }
Describe your network setup
ISP is Virgin Media. Using Hub 5 supplied by VM as primary connection but for wifi a Deco mesh wifi system (TP Link). The two are linked by ethernet cable. The RoonServer is running on a Mac Mini which has an ethernet connection to one of the Deco boxes.
Hi Menzies, thanks for the prompt and helpful reply. I had guessed it was the indirect connection between server and router that was the problem. Unfortunately, I can’t easily test the solution. THe server runs on the mac mini that I use as a PC upstairs and the router is downstairs in the lounge. I might try a temporary move to try the solution but it is not sustainable as permanent set-up. My current storage is an old PC which is upstairs and too noisy to live near the router. So perhaps I will need a second Mac Mini…? I will come back once I have tested a solution.
The Hub5 was always in modem mode with the Deco wired to it and providing the wifi. The AV receiver is wired to the Hub5 (which has spare ethernet sockets) but I think it connects to Roon via Airplay. The other endpoints (I hope I have understood what that means) are a Denon speaker connected by wifi and an Apple Display with speakers which is connected to the Mac Mini that has the server. I use an iphone and an ipad to control the devices.
Roon has worked fine in the house - once I solved the problem of disappearing devices - and I am impressed. I have used a Squeezebox for many years and this is definitely a step up in terms of ease of use.
If the Hub5 really is in modem only mode, then then only device connected to it should be the primary Deco (By wired ethernet). All other devices should be connected, by wired ethernet or WiFi, to one or other of the Decos.
Modem only mode makes the VM HUB 5 act as simple bridge between the WAN port and one of the LAN ports. The remaining WAN ports and the WiFi on the Hub5 are disabled.
Hi Wade, oops, thanks for that - I have tidied up the connections. Meantime I also tried using powerline ethernet connection between the Deco and the mac Mini. Still no luck

You definitely still have two layers of NAT (ie two routers) on your home network.
One router (the one nearest your ISP connection) is issuing ip addresses in the 192.168.0.0/24 subnet and the other is issuing ip addresses in the 192.168.68.0/24 subnet.
It looks to me as if your Virgin Media router is not in Modem Only Mode. On a VM Hub 5, I believe the bottom LED will change to green if the hub is in modem only mode (and it’s web UI should be available on 192.168.100.1 whereas, it is on 192.168.0.1 if the Hub is in router mode).
If you are sure that your VM HUB is correctly configured for Modem Only mode, then another possible cause is that as secondary DECO is configured to act as a router when it should be a WiFi access point or mesh node only.
Hi Wade, what can I say - the Hub5 was originally put into Modem mode when I bought the Deco and I am pretty sure I confirmed that last night, but sure enough I had to change it today and there is now green light. By the time I got upstairs Roon was showing ‘Ready’!!
Brilliant support - clearly my network was in a mess so not only has your advice got Roon working but it has probably resolved/avoided a few other IT problems as well.
