Describe the issue

I have switched my mobile phone from a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to the S25 Ultra which runs Android 15 (instead of 14). Ever since I am not able to get Arc to run and connect to my ROCK anymore. It hangs in the first start loop without finishing. I have already tried clearing data and cache plus deinstalling the app and rebooting the phone afterwards. Still, after reinstalling the app Arc does not start properly...

Describe your network setup

Fritz Box as router, Synology NAS as music library and a separate NUK for ROCK

I have had a similar issue…I ended up having to side-load ARC.

Thanks for your suggestion Mark. Did not help /change things anyways.

I assume it has to do with Android 15 or the S25 somehow as Arc on my DAP still connects fine.

Wonder that no one else with a S25 / Android 15 device seems to have problems though…

I have never have had an issue with my S25/Android 15, running ARC or Roon Remote.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching Roon support, nice to see you on our comunity again!

1. Battery Optimization

Samsung’s battery management may kill background apps or restrict network access:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Roon ARC > Battery
  • Set to “Unrestricted” (not “Optimized” or “Restricted”)

2. App Permissions

Make sure ARC has all the necessary permissions:

  • Settings > Apps > Roon ARC > Permissions
  • Allow Local Network, Storage, and Location if prompted (sometimes required for local discovery)

3. Data Usage / Network Access

  • Settings > Apps > Roon ARC > Mobile Data & Wi-Fi
  • Ensure “Allow background data usage” and “Allow data usage while Data saver is on” are enabled

4. Device Care / App Protection

  • Samsung’s Device Care > Memory or Security features can restrict ARC
  • Go to Settings > Device Care > Memory, and exclude ARC from auto-optimization
  • In Settings > Device Care > Battery > Background Usage Limits, remove ARC from any sleeping/deep sleeping app list

5. App Security / Secure Folder

If you’re using Samsung Knox or Secure Folder, make sure ARC is not accidentally sandboxed or blocked.

Thank you so much Vadim! I cannot tell which one of your tips made it work - but actually Arc just went alive after following steps 1-3  :star_struck:

Hello @Chris_Kroker,

Thank you for the update! We’re glad to hear that everything is running as expected. Enjoy listening to your music!

Kind regards,
Vadim
