Description of Issue

Cannot acces ARC in home network or away from home. Port forwarding settings correct in pfsense. In settings it says ARC can securely reach my core. But ARC getting stuck on connecting to core. Tried the following:

  • restarted all routers, switches and Rock,
  • switched off and on upnp,
  • tried different port,
  • followed steps like renaming roon folder and reinstalling,
  • complete reinstall of Roon,
  • reinstalling ARC and Roon apps.
  • tried on both lg v40 and Ipad air, both with reinstall.

Above without succes, Roon itself is working as normal and is saying I can connect to ARC but as stated; continuously stuck on connecting to core. I don’t think it’s a pfsense issue as port forwarding works on both plex and Xbox.

Any help would be appreciated!

Small update: my ipad air decided it was time for Roon Arc to work, it just worked when i started it over wifi (it’s wifi only). Still no luck on my LG V40 though, both wifi and 4G are not connecting. Still stuck on searching for core page. So it appears to be an Android issue.

Hi @Rense_Knol,

Thank you for the report. Please try the following at your convenience and let us know if it resolves the issue or changes symptoms. The team will follow up and take a more granular look at available recent diagnostics from there.

  1. General use analytics from our own servers show authorization failures associated with your ARC account in the time period under review. Since Google updates Play Store credentials independently of Roon, it’s possible you’re experiencing a temporary authorization failure that will resolve automatically when the Play Store updates. To rule out the possibility of authentication failures in ARC due to a keypair or machine ID error, please try installing ARC from the APK download here.

  2. If the APK download instance has the same connectivity issues, are you able to temporarily remove the pfsense firewall from the chain, relying on the router’s security apparatus instead? Ideally, we’ll remove variables from the network one by one that are known to initiate authorization failures.

We’ll proceed with troubleshooting from there. Thanks!

Hi Connor,

Thank you very much for your reply. Much appreciated. I tried the following:

  • Removed Arc and installed the apk file as suggested,
  • Took out pfsense, put my asus xt9 in router mode and hardwired it to ROCK on my nuc,
  • Restarted modem, router, rock and phone.

All of the above give the same result; Arc cannot find core. ROON is working as it should, Arc works on my ipad over wifi. Only thing i can still try is reinstall android on my phone but would like to keep that as a last resort. Lot of hassle to do…

Anything else I can try? Leaving next week for a long trip so would be nice to get it working.

Best regards,

Rens

In the end I decided to do a complete reinstall of my phone. Still no luck with the app from the playstore but downloading and installing the apk file in the link did the trick. Now all seems to be working as it should. Thanks for the help.
