This began with “server not running” message in Roon 2.71 and I didn’t see the notice in Roon Labs Community until much later.
Something wasn’t right with my installation of Roon. While I can’t say what it was at this point, I attempted to restart the server in “Find Roon OS” and after trying that Roon crashed (I might have taken additional steps). After relaunching Roon, I then needed to map Roon to my music library that is stored on a Synology NAS and that took much longer than usual, like ~ six hours. After that, I attempted to a recent version of Roon from backups and Roon couldn’t find any backups. Finally, Roon ARC doesn’t connect (and that was my first realization that I had a larger problem). There could be other issues lurking out there that i haven’t uncovered at this point.
I can now see and execute the backup. However, it is dated for today (Aug 6 at 2:00AM). That may not help as I need an earlier version from at least a few days ago that has my history, etc.
We just released a hotfix for the erroneous Server Not Running state, so please update to the latest version of Roon and see whether that clears things up.
On the backup side, it looks like the backups may be nested, and you may need to move the sub RoonBackups folder to a different location.
If that still does not work, please send a few screenshots of the root directory and the subfolders so we can take another look, thank you.
Thanks for the guidance. I already updated the OS, so hopefully that will help. On restoring the backup, did you mean the Roon Backup → RoonBackups or Roon Backup ->79f34366, or both?
It took a while, but I found and restored the backups (somehow they got moved to my watched music folder). I copied the folder back to where it should be stored and also managed to get Roon ARC online as well. All good for now. Many thanks!
