Roon ARC Not Ready due to Network Error 526 (ref#5A3VR3)

Network Setup

· My only router was provided by my ISP

ARC Status

· ARC is *Not Ready*

Roon Error Code

· None of these are listed. It simply says "TIMEDOUT" or similar.

System or third-party *firewalls *or *antivirus software* can sometimes block RoonServer from reaching ARC.

·
Try adding RoonServer and its associated processes to the whitelist of any firewalls or antivirus software you have installed, including the Windows system firewall, if applicable.

Has the status in Roon -> Settings -> ARC changed after adding exceptions in your firewalls and antivirus software for Roon?
I don't have any system or third-party firewalls or antivirus software.

Have you successfully located and enabled the UPnP or NAT-PMP settings in your router's web UI?

· I've turned UPnP/ NAT-PMP on and ARC won't connect

What is this reasoning for this issue?

Describe your network setup

- ISP: Frontier Communications, Fiber 1 Gig Internet, 1000/1000 Mbps wired speed.
- Make / model of the network devices: ASUS GT-AXE 16000
- How they are linked with each other: Roon Server version 2.60 (build 1629) production installed on my Mac Studio 2022, Apple M1 Ultra, Memory 128 GB, macOS Tahoe 26.3. Mac is connected using WiFi to ASUS router, and that router is only linked to the internet.
- OS where RoonServer / ARC are running: macOS Tahoe 26.3

Hi @Carlos_Cabezas,

Thank you for your post. This error most likely pertains to UPnP autoconfiguration and shouldn’t indicate an upstream blockage with your ISP.

It sounds like you don’t rely on an ISP-provided gateway in addition to the ASUS router, so you should be able to resolve this by creating a single manual port forwarding rule.

Please try the following:

  1. Enter the web admin settings page for your ASUS GT-AXE 16000 router. You can usually do this by entering 192.168.50.1 in a browser on your network.

  2. Look for the port forwarding settings tab.

  3. Create a TCP-protocol port forwarding rule using the IP address and port number listed in Roon Settings → ARC.

Let us know if this helps. We’ll watch for your response.

Thanks!

2 posts were split to a new topic: Hi, I have the exact same erroR

A post was split to a new topic: ARC stopped working after last update

@connor, there are additional new error 526 cases in this other thread, including for people for whom port forwarding always worked (like myself, and I have a guaranteed IPv4 static external IP, edit: and using EA). Seems like a wider issue to me:

Same here. Did the update an hour ago and arc stopped working. @connor looks like is not an issue from our side but a problem caused by the update

Same here as well, after update it stopped working.

I use EA and so I didn’t have the production update today, but it shows 526 nevertheless.

Yep, affecting me, too. ARC working fine today until 2.60.

Any movement here? It’s been 4 days. Thanks

Never mind, just checked again and it’s fine. I assume it was you not us? Thanks.
