Roon ARC not working on Mikrotik router with uPNP and port forwarding enabled (ref#V1AX91)

Network Setup

· I use a single personal router not provided by my ISP

ARC Status

· ARC is *Not Ready*

Roon Error Code

· “natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”}, “upnp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”} }

Have you successfully located and enabled the UPnP or NAT-PMP settings in your router's web UI?

· I've turned UPnP/ NAT-PMP on and ARC won't connect

Select the Diagnostic Keyword or Text String

· Something else

Don't give up yet.

· I'm stuck. I'd like to create a post to ask Roon Community for help.

Describe the issue

I could not get Roon ARC to work. It is "not ready". I use a Mikrotik router and it is the only router in my network. I enabled uPNP and also did port forwarding in my router. Roon ARC used to work in the past. But it does not work now. I do not know why.

Diagnostic data:
{
"ipv4_connectivity": {"status":"NetworkError","status_code":504,"error":"error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined"},
"external_ip": {"actual_external_ip":"210.aaa.bbb.ccc","actual_external_ipv6":"null","router_external_ip":"null"},
"natpmp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"},
"upnp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"}
}

---
Using Tailscale VPN will work. But I was hoping I can get ARC to be in "ready" state. That will be nice.

Describe your network setup

- ISP is Simba. I reside in Singapore.
- My router is Mikrotik RB750Gr3 with 1 WAN and 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
- My fiber's ONT ethernet output is connected to router's WAN input. One the router's Ethernet port is connected to switch A which is connected to switch B. Roon Server is connected to switch B.
- Roon servers is a Mac mini m4 running Sequoia 15.2 (latest).

Do not use upnp with MikroTik, set it up as describe like answered in the thread below.

Hi @isaac_chew1,

Thanks for writing in, it’s good to see you on the community again!

@anon82078429 has posted a helpful article in their response above, let us know if it helps. :raised_hands:

I realize that my issue is because my new isp uses cgip rather than public ip for the internet service. This is the reason for the ARC problem. Perhaps in future release of ARC, this issue can be overcome. My synology app on the phone has no issue finding my synology server at home when I am away from home, so somehow synology has figured it out.
