Roon ARC often shuts down

Roon ARC has worked flawlessly since its inception, but for several weeks now, it has been closing every time I use it.

On my iPhone 17 Pro Max (iOS 26.2), I launch the app; it opens and starts playing music. But the app closes after about 10 seconds.

I delete the app and reinstall it. Everything works fine. But the next time I want to use it, it closes again after 10 seconds. And it’s always like that.

What can I do? In Roon, I get a message saying that everything is configured correctly for Roon ARC.

I too am having problems with ARC shutting down on 17. Think it may have something to do with overheating as 17 power configuration has changed from previous models. Also, there’s a known issue between iPhone 17 and AK HC4:
Main Reported Issue: Connection/Power Recognition Problem

  • Multiple users report that the iPhone 17 (running iOS 26 or later) often fails to recognize the HC4 or refuses to supply power to it.
  • The root cause appears to be a flaw in the HC4’s USB descriptor: it declares bMaxPower = 0 mA (indicating it’s self-powered), but it’s actually bus-powered (draws power from the host).
  • Newer iPhones (starting with the 17 series) strictly follow USB specs and withhold power in this case, leading to no detection or intermittent connection.
  • This works fine on older iPhones (e.g., 15/16 series) and other iOS devices like iPads, as they provide default power regardless.
  • Affected users note it works with previous models but not the 17 Pro.

Astell&Kern is aware and reportedly working on a firmware update to correct the USB descriptor and resolve this.

Arc App transferred to iPhone 17 Pro Max but not the downloaded albums. Also, there may be some issues with these two models of the new iPhone [not others] as SuperGrok 4.1 beta informs me above

Thank you very much for your replies.

And Roon isn’t doing anything to fix the problem? Despite the exorbitant subscription fees.

It’s an Astell and Kern issue and they’re apparently working on a fix for the HC4 and they say the HC5 they’re now shipping passed all the tests
