Roon ARC query with local files (iPhone) when in Airplane mode

Am I being thick (probably) or should I be able to do the following please:

  • Copy music files (via iTunes) onto iPhone in MP3 format
  • Turn on on Airplane Mode on iPhone
  • Load up Roon ARC
  • Play these MP3 files using Roon ARC

If not, then how do I go about copying music to my iPhone please so that Roon ARC can play files when I’m fully offline ? e.g. flying

You download your own files off the roon core on to the mobile. Not streaming files as they won’t allow acces from 3rd party apps

The files I’m copying to my iPhone are CD-ripped MP3 files, not streaming downloads.

I’m just using iTunes to copy them from my laptop to iPhone.

Unfortunately, Roon ARC doesn’t see the Mp3 files you loaded via iTunes. You have to use the ARC app to load the music files to your phone for it to see them. Btw, it’s also true Apple’s music app doesn’t see the files loaded using Roon ARC.

The rips you have on your roon core are what you download

All makes sense now. Have got some albums downloaded into ARC now.
