Hi @GillysHere,

Thank you for your post. Prior to the time indicated in the screenshot you’ve shared, ARC diagnostics show that the port assignment for RoonServer had been changed in the router.

Are you using autoconfiguration to set up port forwarding or a manual port forwarding rule? If the former, try creating a manual port forwarding rule in the router instead.

Hi @connor

Yes, I tried changing port on Roon to try and force it to work before reaching out to you.

After Disabling UPnP on my Synology then saving. Afterwards I then Enabling UPnP again this seems to have done the trick. Everything is working again. I have no idea why but anyway, this has fixed my problem. If this happens in the future, I will try this before reaching out.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Hey @GillysHere,

Thanks for chiming back in. To confirm -

Did you attempt the above and still run into failures? Which iPhone specifically are you now having issues on?

Do you see the same error tied to port forwarding as in your previous screenshot?

Have you tested out setting up a manual port forwarding rule as well?

Hi @benjamin

Blockquote Did you attempt the above and still run into failures? I got it to work my first attempt, but the day after it stopped working again and I have not been able to get it to work again so no, it is not working

Yes (Something went wrong try again)

Ok so I have tried lots of things on my router. I have turned all the port forwarding rules off including auto assign UPnP just leaving ARC 55000 manually with no joy I have just had auto assign UPnP on which is signs all my devices as needed included 55000 I have tried changing the port number to lots of different combinations… what I don’t understand is when I’m at work if I use the Wi-Fi at work to Connect to my Roon server at home with ARC it works no problem? It’s just when I try using my carrier which is Three this is with 4G 5G. I have also tested connecting to my Mac to look at Roon with Remote Desktop and I can connect fine so I know it’s not a signal problem as

a problem connecting to ARC since you introduced it nothing has changed for me. I’ve had a new iPhone15 Pro(17.6.1) in between you introducing ARC but I’ve had this for nearly 12 months and it was working perfectly fine until the last erm I say two releases from you updating ARC i’ve had a look on iPhone settings and I can’t see anything that could stop this from working I have also contacted Three asking if they have blocked any ports they issuing me nothing is being blocked.

Hi @GillysHere,

Perhaps I’m overlooking something in the post history, but it’s not clear whether or not you’ve tried Tailscale as an alternative to port forwarding. This would be relatively simple to configure on your RoonServer machine and phone.

Hi @connor

I have seen this but I did not want to go this way, but as I’m guessing this is a problem with my router? I have gone down the rabbit hole VPN with Tailscale and this ARC is working as normal.

Looks like this the new setup for my ARC. I will test this for a few days before I press solved just in case :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @GillysHere,

Tailscale is quite elegant in its NAT-traversal solution when the router port forwarding (or your ISP upstream of that) is no longer playing ball.

We’ll keep the thread open before marking Solved as requested. Happy listening!
