Roon ARC suddenly fails after previously working well (ref#QDB5VH)

Network Setup

· My only router was provided by my ISP

ARC Status

· ARC is *Not Ready*

Roon Error Code

· “natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”}, “upnp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”} }

Have you successfully located and enabled the UPnP or NAT-PMP settings in your router's web UI?

· UPnP is not listed in my router settings

· How would you like to continue with the network configuration?
I will configure port forwarding manually.

Have you created a manual TCP port forwarding according to the instructions?

· Yes

What status do you see when visiting Settings > Roon ARC in Roon?

· ARC is "Not Ready"

Select the Diagnostic Keyword or Text String

· Something else

Don't give up yet.

· I'm stuck. I'd like to create a post to ask Roon Community for help.

Describe the issue

I have used Roon ARC well so far but from today it fails

Describe your network setup

-ISP : SK Broadband(South Korea)
- Model of network device : GW-HF611K[WiFi6] / Manufacturer : HFR Inc.(South Korea)
- Link : Ran cable from wall -> Network Device -> PC(Roon Server)
- OS : Windows10

Below is the diagnostics data for Roon Support

{
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:502,“error”:“error: Error: connect EHOSTUNREACH 39.aaa.bbb.ccc:55002, response code: undefined, body: undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“39.aaa.bbb.ccc”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”}
}

I think I have to mention 1 more thing. Until now, Roon server IP in my roon arc setting was 192.168.45.77 and port forward internal IP address in ISP setting page was the same. but today I found Roon server IP has been changed to 192.168.45.248 so I have tried changing port forward IP address to the same 192.168.45.248 but that didn’t work .

Two questions:

  1. Has the Roon Port changed as well as the ip address? if so you will have to update the Port Forwarding Rule for that as well.

  2. Does you ISP use CG-NAT? A quick search on the internet found one article (probably quite old) that suggests SK Broadband does use CG-NAT. If your service is using CG-NAT, then port forwarding will not work and you will have to use Tailscale.

You can find out if your ISP is using CG-NAT by comparing the IP (v4) address reported by web sites like whatismyipaddress.com with the WAN side address reported by your router (the address starting with 39.). If the two addresses match, then your ISP is not using CG-NAT on your account. If they don’t match, then your ISP is using CG-NAT.

Thank you very much for your advice. I have very accidently solved the trouble. I have changed protocol in ISP menu from TCP/UDP to TCP and it worked!
I appreciate your concern again. May you have happy new year!
